Re: Covid Jabs - again
Had our flu jabs given by the delectable Rachel, the one nurse who seems able to take blood and give injections and you don't feel a thing. And neither I nor my good lady wife had a stiff arm the next day!

Re: Covid Jabs - again
The Government's covid spring campaign has begun and after receiving an invite had a drop of Moderna vaccine yesterday.
I have heard that a lot of people who are eligible are not bothering to take up the invites.
My feeling is ,if it gives me any protection from covid it's better to have it. For the sake of a few minutes of my time it may save me from from the side effects of Covid, it's still out there.

We had our Moderna Spikevax jabs on Wednesday, a slightly achey arm yesterday but gone now.
I cannot understand why anyone eligible would refuse to have it done.

Had mine yesterday.

Had ours on Monday. Sore arm for a couple of days and felt a bit fluey Tuesday evening but fine by Wednesday. Beats the alternative.

I thought I would wait and let everyone else have it first. You can never be too careful. We have ours next Wednesday. Foolish not to have it.

Members on here come across as very sensible and have taken up the option of the covid jab. Cannot think why there are the reports of can't be bothered, I don't think there is any problems from having the jab so why not have it. ?

Yeah, to be honest the microchips don't feel too uncomfortable as they insert them.

Re: Covid Jabs - again
I've got an appointment booked for mine but not for a few weeks yet. I've just had cataract surgery and want to wait until I can get new glasses, which it seems I will need for reading and driving, so I can drive myself to the appointment. It surprises me that even fairly intelligent people are still reluctant to have the vaccination. I have an intelligent cousin who's had a career which is science based, and he's quoting articles he's read on Google about the dangers that some people allege are present and he's not sure he'll have the jab this time - he is old enough to be offered it. Were people ever worried about the BCG vaccination, or the TB vaccination which I had at school and I assume most people of my age did?

You have to be invited for this one - either by your GP or through the NHS app

I wasn't. Just searched for a clinic on the NHS website and booked, in our case at a local pharmacy. There's also another pharmacy locally doing walk ins. As long as you are 75 plus or have evidence of vulnerability, in my case that being a letter sent to me after my prostate cancer treatment, no problem.

Re: Covid Jabs - again
Well for us oldies the flu and covid jabs will soon be rolling out again,if they have not already begun.
But this year there is a new kid on the block for 75 to 80 year olds. If you turn 75 on or after 1st Sept 2024 and up to the day before you turn 80 you will be invited to have the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) injection.
If you are not 75, you will get an invite once you reach 75.
This is better explained on the NHS Web site.
It outlines the benefits of the vaccine, and like the other
vaccines will offer some protection from the nasties us oldies are at risk from.

Hi Sir Merv, I’m looking to save £98 and was wondering if two black eyes and a bit of bruising would qualify for vulnerability?Mervyn and Trish wrote: 28 Apr 2024, 22:56I wasn't. Re: Covid Jabs - again
I had an invitation from my surgery to book a flu jab and it also said that if I were eligible for a Covid Jab, which I am, I could be given that at the same time if I wished. If they're also going to offer this new RSV jab as well I don't think I'd want three all at the same time - I assume this wouldn't be offered anyway. I'll see. It's not till October.

Carole, I don't think they are jabbing RSA at the same time as the other two. From what I've read it's given on its own.

Trish has had her invitation and booked for RSA jab (Not me yet I'm far too young... well 17 days). Not had our invitations for flu or covid jabs yet.
