OK, I know that this will come as a shock, but there was some football played this weekend
League one & two had a full programme and Gillingham won again.
"REAL" football starts again next week

Good result for you Barney! I see McGlashan played yesterday - he did well at Aldershot and was always very popular with the fans.
Just in case nobody noticed .... Shots managed a home win which certainly makes my weekend! She only sings when they're winning......!!

Well, we held on resolutely for an hour or so but missed two golden chances to score along the way ... then the mighty Arsenal slipped into silky gear and killed us with 3 goals in 12 minutes

Oh it's not that bad Mob! (Smug gloat!!) The trouble is you can play well but if you don't take your chances you will get punished. It's a very cruel league and any sides coming up from the Championship have to adapt very quickly. Any weaknesses and you quickly get found out as we discovered to our cost.Manoverboard wrote:I don't like this League anymore
Meanwhile I can't believe how well we are doing but long may it continue. Coming back from 2 goals down away from home was pretty remarkable but why, oh why, do teams no longer place a marker on the post at corners? A bit of a flicked header and the ball's in the net. It happens in all divisions and at international level so somebody must know something I don't!
Plenty of draws about yesterday but congratulations to Gillingham with an away win and now sitting at the top of League 1. We'll not mention the rest!!!!

I don't know what he feeds them at half time but I wouldn't mind some. I think it must take them 45 minutes just to get warmed up. I had a Ford Popular like that once

I am loving this especially when we take points off teams who think they have some sort of divine right to win judging by the post match comments and excuses from managers and supporters. The fact is we are playing with passion and determination and coming from a situation where we were dead certs for relegation this time last year and favourites for relegation with a dead leg has-been of a manager this season, is it little wonder we are enjoying the ride while it lasts.

Saw the highlights of the Newcastle game last night - as they say what a game for neutrals. Definitely not a good one for anyone with a heart condition! Don't really mind who won but think Newcastle deserved a boost after all the attacking efforts (don't mention defence!).
At Aldershot, we can never relax until the whistle goes - a few seasons ago, we were 3 0 up at Torquay and got beaten 4 3! Never dull though!

I see that the pantomime at Elland Rd continues. The Widow twankey has sacked yet another manager I think that makes it 5 managers sacked since he took over in 2014! Whilst as a Town fan I find it highly amusing, I'm actually starting to feel sorry for the true L**ds fans who are so upset to see their club becoming a laughing stock.
Steve Evans has picked up the poisoned chalice. I expect him to be sacked and royally compensated before Christmas.
Incidentally, I understand that Widow Twankey has commissioned a new club calendar for next year - it features a Manager of the Month on each page!

If it's correct that many compensation schemes for sacked managers end if they get another manager's job, then I bet Rotherham are very happy to hear of Evans' new job!
