Yer halo came off at the last fence ... just saying ;)
Talking about last fences… can you tell Sir Merv that I’m always willing to compromise… I’ll be dinning in the “Jubilee” stand at Ludlow races on Tuesday.

Thinking about it, I might introduce myself as Commodore Latrine for an upgrade to the Royal Box Throne. ;) :D

If OL is as big a stud as he reckons, he’s probably visited one a few times.

I was referring to beautiful, well-bred filly’s, not the donkeys you and Stephen tried to ride

I’ve always rated Nicole Scherzinger vocals and tonight’s performance confirmed why…stand out performance for me.

Katy Perry gave a crowd-pleasing performance.

William came over as false as ever…but that was to be expected.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable concert, but with far too much flag waving

Did anyone else pick up on the blue and gold carpets in the Abbey on Saturday? Was that just coincidence or a deliberate nod to Ukraine?

No, I didn't connect the two but it is possible. I just thought the bright yellow was as close as they could get to a gold carpet for the coronation chair. But blue? It seems possible.

The blue was also on the horses that pulled the carriage, it is normally red. The commentator said that the Royal blue ' colour was chosen by King Charles. The carpet was the same colour and it was new. No mention was made about the colour yellow as far as I know.

This.................
"While the carpets at the coronation may resemble the Ukrainian flag, as many viewers have pointed out, they seem to be traditional as the late Queen Elizabeth's coronation ceremony also featured yellow and blue carpets, with the yellow section covering the area where the throne chairs sit and the blue section covering the areas where attendees sit".

Just assuming that the Republicans ever got their way, what would we then call the country?
The United Kingdom could not exist without a King or Queen, could it?
The clue is sort of in the name.
Maybe Onelife has a few ideas?
The people’s republic of ????

Hi Barney, I don’t know about you but in my lifetime, I can’t remember a time when there has been a “United Kingdom” other than in name only, so perhaps a change in name is long over due? If we were ever to become a republic then the obvious choice would be…The Republic of Great Britain and NI.

And even then it would still be known as "UK" as that is the international code for this country and they never change.

+44 UK doesn’t roll off the tongue very easily, neither does +44 Republic but if we ever get to the point where we have the choice then I’ll be very happy.

But UK is specific, whereas Republic is meaningless without a country name.

Sorry John, but I have more important things to think about at the moment…I’ve got a starving dog that needs some attention.

With a change in the political/constitutional landscape then I think Republic of Great Briton would soon catch on. :relaxed:
