Should the yes vote succeed I wonder who the sizeable minority of Scots who currently blame we Brits for everything that goes wrong, will now blame.
Alex Salmond.? ... if he is still around

Pity the English didn't get a vote otherwise I reckon the result would have been clear cut. I think a lot of us think exactly as you do Frank, me included.

We were in the Scottish Parliament when they were discussing, then voting on the vote for 16 year olds. The impression I got was that they young voters would sway the vote in favour of the Yes campaign. Unfortunately for the SNP I believe the young Scottish voters are much more savvy than they realise and do not necessary feel that two verses of Flower of Scotland, waving a Scottish saltire with a big Yes on it and hurling abuse about the English in general and David Cameron in particular, is the way forward for Scotland.

We often go up to Glasgow or Edinburgh for shopping and the people we have met there couldn't be more helpful or more friendly. That wasn't my experience in Holyrood, a place I found quite hostile and unwelcoming unless you were a dyed in the wool Scot.
I was taught to be cautious

Just back from hols during which the referendum took place.

Silly me. From the reporting abroad it appeared that 55% people voted no.

But looking through news archives on my return it seems that (according to Mr Salmond - as a side note I thought he'd resigned) actually 45% voted yeas and 55% said they'd like to think about it further and have another vote in a few years. I remember that tactic from my childhood. If Mummy says no, ask Daddy!

Had the vote gone the other way, and the country voted yes, would Salmond and co have suggested another referendum in 5 years to check the result?
