Re: Bird watching
Anyone got a reason why magpies are flourishing so much recently? I guess there either has to be an increase in suitable conditions and food and/or a decrease in predators but does anyone know the specifics?

Re: Bird watching
Hi Ranchi…I used to live in a Village just on the outskirts of Redditch where we were plagued with Magpies, yet on moving to to a village on the outskirts of Ludlow I could count on one hand how many magpies I’ve seen in the past 3 years. This being the case I can only think that location must have some bearing on it?Ranchi wrote: 06 May 2020, 21:04Anyone got a reason why magpies are flourishing so much recently? I do know the farmers are always shooting crows round here as we have a lot of sheep with lambs. The crows apparently will attack an unprotected or sick new born lamb and gouge their eyes out.
Well I hope it is just the crows they are shooting because we have quite a lot of Buzzards and an increasing number of kites round here.

Mummy Dove is presently nudging her two baby chicks to take the plunge by stepping out of one of our gutters. Mr Pussycat is however taking a keen interest in the proceedings ... gawd, who writes this stuff

Re: Bird watching
We seem to have digressed from Bird Watching to pictures and posting. So before we get a tug from a mod I'll put us back on track.
