Yes, I realise that Sue, but some properties are just too big or too costly to live in.

Yeah, sell it to a property developer and they can convert it to apartments...I know the name of a good builderBoris+ wrote:Yes, I realise that Sue, but some properties are just too big or too costly to live in.

Re: An Estate Agent sort of question .... what do you think?
OK lets get a few things clear here..Boris+ wrote:Hi Jo,
I think that such a purchase is unwise and foolhardy. At the end of the day firstly it is essentially an old property - and old properties can be riddled with hidden problems. Yes, ok, I know that that is what surveyors are there for, but it's a game I wouldn't play - I don't go looking for trouble when I buy a property.
Then there is the issue of communal areas - another problem waiting to happen, and don't let's forget that with communal areas come handsome charges, management fees etc., and at the end of the day it is possible to purchase something else with less problems.
I personally don't spend money to gain problems, worry and unhappiness - I wish anyone spending money (whether their own money or a mortgage/loan) all the happiness which they perceive their purchase is going to bring. However, this particular property is personally one which I would stay well clear of.
Em
We have'nt gained any problems, we are not worried and we are far from unhappy. We have spent our OWN money, we dont have a mortgage/loan(been mortgage free for years now).
We do not perceive anything..we know how much happiness this property is going to bring us and our family and friends when they visit us.

Firstly I am not at liberty to sell.
Secondly Sue - you have said that you have spent money to buy a property and that you hope and trust that it is going to give you and your family happiness etc.
I second that in no uncertain terms. I hope that all your hopes and wishes come true and give you and yours nothing other than contentment and happiness.
As someone has put elsewhere on the forum - what people do is a matter of personal choice. You have done what you wanted, but it's not for me.
Just to reiterate, I really do hope that it brings you all you desire.

In future then Em, please dont suggest that we are unwise and foolhardy and that we are gaining problems, worry and unhappiness, just because we do things that you dont approve of or are "not for you"

Hi Sue,
Is there any particular reason (other than you may know that red is one of my current favourite colours) that you feel you need to highlight fairly unimportant stuff in red?
I put 'hope and trust' simply because absolutely nobody on this planet can absolutely guarantee what will happen from one moment to the next.

Sue,
In an attempt to try and put you at ease or pour oil on any troubled waters, I don't think I posted that I thought you were being unwise - I thought I just posted something along the lines of I thought it was unwise. Do please accept my apologies for any confusion which may have arisen from you reading my posts.
The other thing, is that I have never posted what I think of you, so - have a lovely day, enjoy.

Anyone having watched 'May the Best House Win' will appreciate the astonishing differences in the contestants' houses, the decor and furnishings.
