That rules out me as a socialist then. Whilst I am unhappy about the ridiculous sums of money paid to the undeserving, I am equally miserable about the way football has gone !

I am perfectly at ease with the earnings of football players, those who are not need not go to the matches, subscribe to SKY nor buy replica kit etc.

What does annoy me however are the outrageously hiked prices at Sherborne Garden Centre ( and associates / chums and look-a-likes ) as compared to Amazon for example. The price of flowers are also far too high given that you can pick them out of the ground in the local park for free.

Just thought I'd post on here while Aldershot are on the up!

Having kept my fingers and toes crossed for the past couple of months, we've just managed to finish 5th in the National League - yes in the playoffs!!

Wednesday evening we're "entertaining" Tranmere at home - followed by the 2nd leg at Tranmere on Saturday (tickets for both already arranged!).

I'm not even going to mention the "W" word on Sunday 14th May but suffice to say that I managed to book our holiday for the 21st May so it wont clash!
It makes a change at this time of the year to be looking up and not down and to have a further 2 matches to play is a lovely bonus.

Hope all your teams finish ok and you dont get too many withdrawal symptoms in the summer.

Good luck to the Shots Jill.
I have memories of Aldershot away.
We were held in a pub and then escorted to the station by the police and kicked out of town , due to earlier crowd trouble.
The problem was, we drove

I'm delighted to see the back of that season.
We had a shocker but survived.
Roll on next season.
Season ticket bought and paid for.
Am I mad ??????????????????????????

I also remember going to Aldershot, courtesy of the Watford Supporter's Club coach ... they lost two footballs during that game, one over the fence / wall and t-other down the flights of steps and into the High Street.

ps .... Good Luck.

Didn't go that well, I see - sorry Jill. Mind you, as Tranmere finished 13 points above the Shots in the league, I think it would be an injustice if they didn't at least make the play-off final.

I'm still not sure about this play-off malarkey. Whilst I accept that it retains the interest right to the end of the season for a lot of otherwise mid-table teams, I think it would be wrong if a team like Tranmere (who clearly deserve promotion on the strength of their season-long performance) were to miss out

Thanks for comments - well some of them! Just about recovered now but so disappointed with score. We did give them 2 goals - individual errors - but our defence has been tremendous during the season. Cant score many goals though! We did in fact beat Tranmere at home 3-1 and drew 2-2 with them on Good Friday but they certainly had a successful game plan last night.

However......... obviously still going to Tranmere on Saturday (coach leaving at 4.45) and only need 0-4, 1-5 or even 2-6 scoreline! Its called being a supporter, even though OH would call it something else!

Barney, we've been to Gillingham a fair few times and do recall the open to the elements scaffold type stand, with the wind whistling up our trouser legs!

Manoverboard - not been to Watford and unlikely to visit in the near future. Good luck though.

LOL Jill
that 'temporary' stand that has been there for over ten years. It's a disgrace to be honest, but the rest of the stadium is very nice.

Watford seem completely deluded as a club.
He kept them up - job done.
This is another quality manager they are letting go before he has had a proper chance to bed in, sort transfers, build a team and identity.
Unless they get the chequebook out it's hard to see anyone else doing any better, maybe finish a few places higher but that's about it.
Daft in my opinion.

Who next, Alan Pardew for a season ?

Not Alan Pardew, no chance ... he may get a job in the Championship but not another one in the Prem.

In the Prem ( and elsewhere of course ) Managers are routinely contracted to improve year on year, Watford's Walter got very well paid but failed to do better than Flores did in the previous season ... simples

Does it make sense. Not really but just about surviving every year is simply not good enough given the £££s involved ... as per Sunderland, Norwich & Aston Villa etc.

Another FA cup win. I think for a change we had a plan and it mostly worked. Chelsea were not at the races for the 1st 20 mins and we gained in confidence during that period.

Will he stay, will he go....I think he will stay.

Best to leave while he's on top but also to give Arsenal the opportunity to restructure themselves as per most Continental Clubs ( + Watford ) rather than having one person ( Wenger ) in charge of absolutely everything.

He ' could ' stay but, imo, only if his activities are restricted to coaching and picking the first team.
