(I would have put more yawns but I can only have 10)

Instead of calling this thread Currant Affairs 2023 could you call it something like 'the most boring thread of the past 12 years thread' something like that, so the majority of members knows to avoid this very boring saga of Harry and Meghan the former members of the Royal Family who most people couldn't give a toss about.

There are only 20 surviving copies of Beano No. 1 in the whole world
So if you find one in your gran's attic, it could be worth £20,000!
Hi Bensham…I’m sure you are right, in that many find this current affairs topic a little bit tedious but whether you like it or not it is current affairs and as long as you don’t take it to seriously, like what most of us do then it does take our minds off some of the horrific stories that are in the headlines at the moment….if however you wish to start a topic on them or any other current affairs topic I will have the choice of whether or not I contribute….may I suggest you do the same.

Keep :)

P's I've had to deduct one of your yawns because it's way pass your bedtime and i needed a smile.

Yes you are right but all that's needed is a change of thread title. That way those that don't want to read this dross can avoid it. :D

I could go along with that but then David would have to stipulate that a ‘current affairs thread’ shouldn’t transgress into anything to do with the Monarchy which I’m not sure he would be willing to do…Why don’t you ask him? :)

Pray tell us where you are seeing these things so that we may all have this unprejudiced view.

Hi David, thank you for asking this question as it’s not something I like to boast about   but I have the ability to look into people’s eyes and tell if they are telling porky pies…having honed theses skills over many years I can say without doubt that much of what Harry is saying is true…there are however some indications in his demeanour that would suggest that his recollection of certain things have been overstated, this probably derives from him and his lovely wife Meghan wanting to compound what they believe to be true rather than sticking with what they know to be true.
You have surpassed yourself OL. What a load of old cobblers!!! Now be honest, you get it from your immaculate contraption!!!

I don’t deny having had a few out-of-body experiences but immaculate contraption isn’t one of them, that being said, my mother did say that I was a very special baby so you could be right about the immaculate part of your miraculous contraption conception theory.

A quick run through social media shows that OL's noble but misplaced affection for Harry is very much a minority view and everyttime Harry opens his mouth he digs the hole deeper.
Unlike you Sir Merv I don’t use misplaced views based on social media reports to form my opinions, I prefer to see things without the prejudice of media hype :) .
You mean you don't think that the interviews and book reviews, were media hype to increase book sales?

I think the interviews are payback for all the lies that have been said about them…there are always two sides to the story…the Firm leaked their side of the story, he is telling his…if he make a fortune out of it, he has his family to thank for it….what goes around comes around.

The thing is Bensham a while ago another member made a similar comment about the H&M discussion. The suggestion made then was okay, if you want us to talk about something else, start the conversation. To date they haven't. I guess the same advice applies to you or anyone else. Join in the chat, start a new one or scroll on by.

My view is you won't have to scroll for long. Now the book is actually out those who can be bothered can read it, the media will mull it over and in a few days H&M can retire to the obscurity they sought.

Based on the display of around 100 books in Tesco this morning and only two sold it doesn't appear that there will be that many bothered to read it - although OL has been very quiet today so he might be reading his copy that he went out for at midnight!

I know that member who dared to speak out and I don't think he's posted since. I wonder why?

The thing is Merv most if us know that if those of us not in the inner circle were to try and start a new conversation then it would be ignored. I have tried a few times and get very little back. I enjoy this forum very much but I mostly read for the reasons given above.

Blimey. According to.your stats you've posted 633 times. I think that qualifies for inner circle.

Get posting some new topics we can have a crack at.

That's a bit of a harsh view Bensham, if the topic is of interest then I would assume you would get lots of replies.
I have had many topics ignored, but I don't get offended, it just spurs me on to keep trying to find an ever more controversial way to present the same topic. I learned that trick from Onelife.

I don't like to think we have an 'inner circle', yes there are members that regularly get involved in a variety of of posts and make some interesting comments leading on to discussing the topic in some depth. This should not stop any member from posting a topic or on the odd occasion to pop into a discussion.
It's a friendly site a, unlike some that have bad and abusive comments to posters, all are welcomed and indeed are encouraged to contribute.
It would be nice if we had more cruise topics posted, now cruises are starting to get back to some sort of normal.
So anyone who feels they may have nothing to say just pop in, make a post, you may get none, one or multiple replies, everyone has something to say.
Don't worry, be happy

That's a fair comment.
Truth is that Harry's book and his lies are in the news at the moment. You only have to put on the TV or radio and it is high on the agenda.
So far I have not seen any alternative news items put forward, cruise related or otherwise which others have been keen to debate.

I blame OL. If he didn't disagree we'd have nothing to argue about and nobody to argue with

Hi Bensham,

There is some truth in what you say as forums of any description can be intimidating places, that being said if the two people I can think of who fall into the ‘speak out’ category are the ones we are thinking about then I doubt neither of them are not posting because they dared to speak out…its normally the case that speaking out provokes responses which can cause friction between posters, this normally blows over with each of the parties having to accept that their view point is right and the other viewpoints are wrong (I do it all the time)…if you can’t manage this without a smile on your face then perhaps topics of controversial discussions should be avoided.

I personally would love to see more people posting but, on this forum, I don’t agree with your inner circle view point, I do think there is a mainstay of posters which could be perceived as inner circle posters but that description is only valid in the context that they are the ones who post regularly, Imo.

As I said earlier, forums can be intimidating places, especially for those like me who struggle in different areas of grammar, sentence forming etc. but all I can say to that is that anyone thinking of getting involved should do so because this is a friendly site and one which is well moderated.

On the point of moderating…. I would like something done about the awful comments that have recently been posted about me…very upsetting to say the least.

Keep smiling

Oh’ and if you could start with Foxy that would be appreciated because all he wants to do is argue with me even when he’s wrong. :D

P.s Bensham...you are a valued member of this forum and because of this I want you to know that I agree with everything you have said...keep posting

So, if you believe the tabloids that Lovely Meghan is rude and difficult does that make Camilla very, very 'Dangerous' … given that she and Charles had 4 resignations from their personal service in the space of a few months back in 2017?

Perhaps she’s spending too much time serving dinner to her good friends Clarkson and Morgan, some would say, two of the worse cretins you could ever wish to meet… brings to mind the quote: Tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are. :)

Of course because you are well read OL I know you will realise that the dinner mentioned was an official event with many guests other than the two you mention and not an imitate tete a tete. But never let the facts get in the way of a good story. You've learned a lot from your mate Harry.

She, Camilla regards both as personal friends…so my sources tell me….and let’s face it, if you want to rejuvenate your unpopularity you bring in those who can divert attention to others…. she should be of great support to Charlies and William.

I think I would much prefer to have Jetremy and Piers as table mates than H and M. Comedy over dinner is far better than two not very interesting lovebirds, too self righteous for their own good.
