Over the years I have seen many schemes being rolled out ... I was on a YTC scheme myself. I always have a hope that they might work, but usually they end up simply being an even bigger drain on valuable tax revenue ... costing more than the benefit they provide ... then they move onto the next scheme. What the government really needs to do, rather than the usual weaselly words, is make it a reality that everybody will be better off in employment ... with each person deciding how many hours they wish to do. Farmers were virtually begging for help to clear the fields earlier this year, but despite nearly 1 million in this country being paid to lie in their beds, £millions of valuable food was left rotting in the fields.

It is time that an element of benefits was based on how much of a contribution you have made to HMRC. I remember when I was made redundant I got about £70 per week ... I didn't actually need it but thought I had paid enough into the system so collected it and gave it to a local charity. That £70 was the equivalent of 1 days work at minimum wage ... it is time that people had to get out of their beds and provide an equivalent number of hours of work before they could hold their hand out for their entitlement ... there are many jobs that could be done.

One Albanian told the truth as to why he entered our country illegally, didn't turn out as well as if he had lied to them.

As I understand it maritime law says they can't intervene unless they ask for assistance so once they are in British waters they call the police for assistance. We then provide a taxi service for them. It's a joke.

Shame but never mind.
We may still be able to get rid of NI when the time comes.

I still have this plan to let all the people in Scotland who want to be out the UK and in the EU move to NI, which then merges with the Republic, while those in NI who want to be in the UK and out of the EU move to Scotland. Works for me.

Merv, the plan works for me. two problems solved with one hit. You do not say what your plans are for those that want out, but do not want to move.

There are lots of second hand rubber dinghies in Dover going cheap, for those that prefer to be in mainland europe.

I suppose the good news is that Sturgeon now finds herself with a spare £20 million that they were going to spend on their referendum.
Could put it towards a new ferry ?
Maybe even spend it on reducing drug deaths ?

At last, I hope today this may be the last time we have Matt Hancock plastered everywhere you look. He has had more publicity than anyone in parliament up to the PM. As he walks away with his pockets full of the money he receives, the next time I here him mentioned will be to soon.

I would hope the money he has made on Celebrity Jungle will go to charity and he now stands down as an MP. That would be the honourable thing to do in my opinion.

Think he’s already made his mind up.
Looking forward to seeing him in ‘SAS who dares wins’ in the new year.

He certainly showed some of the others how to win stars though. Especially girly Moyles and the comic. Not forgetting the Woofter with the amateur tattoos.
