Hi Pompey, as far as Spillanes is concerned, it will, I suspect, be either or but definitely not The Paddy Power.

It was really sad to see Sir Gino getting pulled up under those circumstances but at least he has a fighting chance…fingers crossed.

Mangalese hasn’t been on my radar, neither has Max Comley but both look to be going the right way....will start following with interest.

So Onelifes choice of the Kalooki Kid @ 5/1 Musselburgh was taken a the right time ...now down to 10/3
Again the bet at Sandown for Minella Missile @14/1 was well timed...as now it's 10/1 but been a while since he actually won a race
Never heard of Kitaab before running at Newcastle tomorrow but you got a good price @20/1
Lastly....like your bold move betting on Daily Present @50/1 at Leopardstown....sometimes things can go well :)

As you know ....Epicitus was a non runner tonight , the race was won by Hitched and the way he passed the leaders was well timed

The Irish Gold Cup at Leopardstown is run tomorrow and Galopin des Champs is trying to win for the 4th time in a row & whilst I would like him to win, I think maybe it's going to be one of the others like Gaelic Warrior.

I was looking at Nassalam 15:42 Sandown with his last few races ending so badly why is the price a low 10/1  Maybe he is better than he seems.

Hi Pompey, on form Nasalam looks up against it, the only thing in his favour is that he loves heavy ground and has a trainer who knows how to ready one for a slog.

If Sandown and Leopardstown do get the go ahead then it’s going to be a war of attrition out there so expect a few shocks... of which Nasalam might be one of them.

I agree with you about the Irish Gold Cup..whilst Galopin looks to be the standout horse there are some serious horses up against him so perhaps not one to put your shirt on.

I didn’t take an early price on Kitaab as prices weren't marked up for that race…however I see that P Kirby's other horse is a strong fav so I’m probably on the wrong one.

Me too  Couldn't resist the price but I won't begrudge losing a couple of quid if it doesn't run or doesn't do that well
I also made a £1 win bet on Downmexicoway @20/1 Leopardstown 14:55 Arkle Novice Chase.....it would seem to have absolutely no chance
Romeo Coolio & Kargese have never fallen but as you know sometimes surprises happen in racing :shh: esp with only 3 horses running.

Leopardstown has been abandoned today but transferred the races to Monday so Daily Present will still be running.
Hopefully races on Sunday will be ok because I'm quite interested to see how Lossiemouth runs in the Irish Champion hurdle ...maybe I'm wrong but I think El Fabiola is a better horse than the betting price shows.

Saturday Results

The Kakoola Kid - 6th Struggled from a mile out.

Minella Missile - PU got stuck in the mud - hated it.

Kitaab 8th - never looked like winning.

So what do we say in these situations…still taking the pain killers.

You all know how I try to look after Onelife's punditry so I've picked a couple of winners for him here. They're worth putting money on if only to watch the race.

Onelife's Saturday banker…or lack of them in this instance.

I’ve decided not to have a bet tomorrow due to the uncertainty of whether or not NH racing will get the go ahead ...due to ground conditions...another factor is that my once good mate Foxy failed to deliver on helping his good mate out with a tenner. :o

Good job you didn't give Onelife another tenner Foxy...... ;)
One of the horses he seems to like.... " Sean " was running in Dubai yesterday and got well beaten
That £10 would have gone straight into the bookies pocket
Maybe he was unlucky & didn't like the change of jockey because he had a dwelt start (slow to leave the starting gate, a bad start ) but he wasn't any good this time out.

Why am I not surprised?
I have suggested to OL he studies form and makes his tips on what he fancies, just as he is doing now. BUT he should then put his money on something else. I've even offered my expert services for free.

There were a few horses racing this weekend that will probably run in the big races at Cheltenham in March
Haiti Couleurs won as expected against only three others and is entered for the Gold cup & also the Grand National in April

Lulamba ran well to win four times in a row and is entered in the Arkle & now favourite in the betting. Hopefully his injury is not serious
I have a feeling that Jonbon will be racing at Ascot on Saturday before Cheltenham, but no runners seem to be declared at the moment
Zanoosh won for third time in a row and might run at Clonmel on Thursday before going to Cheltenham for the Albert Bartlett

Looking forward to seeing OLs bankers when he posts them at the end of the week ...they'll probably be horses I've never heard of but has he somehow spotted a clue that might possibly get him another winner. ;)

I'll be taking an interest in the Grand National Trial on Saturday at Haydock to maybe get a clue for the Grand National

Hi Pompey, I wasn’t at all impressed with Haiti Couleurs win on Saturday and would be very reluctant to back it for the Gold Cup…. even with Foxy’s money. They always go a fair pace in this race and I can’t see his jumping holding up...going by Saturday's performance. For the same reasons I wouldn’t be backing Lulamba. He clearly has ability but his jumping wasn’t great and as you know Cheltenham fences take no prisoners.

I have taken a look at The Grand National Trial and have taken 14/1 about Mombeg Genius. This horse looks well treated at the weights (bearing in mind the weights will go up if/when Le Homme Presse gets pulled out) will go on the ground and has a trainer who targets these types of races.

I note Epictetus entered up on Tuesday who wouldn’t be without a chance. I will be backing it but haven't decided how much yet.

As for the Grand National proper I’m not looking anywhere other than “Iroko” who, barring a fall, has everything needed to win this race.

Monbeg Genius might well be up there......I was passing Coral this morning and asked for the anti-post price on Richmond lake and they said they couldn't do an anti-post price on the race....so I just made my e/way bet for the starting price, thinking he might be about 20/1 with luck. How wrong could I be ...back at home on my computer he's more like 8/1....whoops I should have made my bet on the other horse I like Neo King although his OR rating is pretty low.
As to the Grand National....I think Iroko is Not a great price when you have I am Maximus & Grangeclare West running again. plenty of time for me to make a decision.

I see Epictetus is wearing blinkers....don't think he will win but might scrape in 3rd  GO go Wyld Bill

I can’t see any negatives with regard to Richmond Lake, indeed it was one that I tipped up a while ago…that however could be a negative  …lets hope one of us gets the winner.

If Iroko turns up in good shape I can't see this horse being out of the first 3…. barring a fall that is.

I guess you'll be watching Iroko run in the Ladbrokes Trophy Handicap Chase at Kempton in a couple of weeks.
I can tell you are very confident about Irokos chances but he has only won 2 of the 10 chase races and last year was the only time he has raced over 4 miles. Also you will probably have Jonjpo O'Neil jr onboard and there has been quite a bit of talk about how poor he seems to be judging pace and some of his finishes have been called poor.......Not that I'm trying to put you off of course

Against my better judgment I’ve plunged a fiver on Epictetus but won’t be surprised to see Perfect life lead them all home… he looks like a class two handicapper running in a class 4 race.
