We have an artifical tree. It's so realistic that all the needles start falling off on Christmas Eve.

Mmmm. Not sure if I'd fancy a Christmas cruise or not.
I quite like playing the part of scrooge Christmas day at home, in front of the telly with a log far roaring away supping a glass of wine, whisky, gin and tonic, bubbly or all four

Hey if you celebrate...do it properly !!!!qbman1 wrote:Er - "treeS"? Plural ?
Don't do things by half, do you Spuddy ?!
yes....plural..
But only four this year...the front porch now has built in storage..so no room for a tree....just lots of twinkly lights
Big tree in front room... traditional, OTT of course
New slim tree in back room, decorated in white and silver, to match the sparkly white reindeers I bought half price from Laura Ashley..which stand on the hearth.
Hall tree ...and garlands down the stairs..another traditional but again OTT
Kitchen..vintage design..with kids decorations and old stuff belonging to my mam and nana.
Takes me 2-3 days to put them all up and all the other bits that come out.

And she still claims it's not a mansion? Front rooms, back rooms, front porch with built in storage, hall, hearth? Sounds only marginally smaller than Downton. Pass me a whisky Carson and tell them to fetch the Bentley round. We're all off to Spud's place for Christmas. But get a move on. It starts on Thursday

Re: When should Christmas start?
We will only be having three inside this year. New one, all new baubles to co-ordinate with teal cushions and curtains in sitting room, tall slimline one, in gold and white, in conservatory, where we spend most of our time, smaller one, also decorated in gold in hall. Then there's the Christmas tree growing in the front lawn - that needs to be lit, plus the poplar tree also in the front lawn, will need lights.suespud wrote:Hey if you celebrate...do it properly !!!!qbman1 wrote:Er - "treeS"? Like Sue, it takes a couple of days at least to dress both the house and the trees - but hey - it's Christmas!
Sue - I think we should start a Christmas Tree photo thread when we're all decorated!

Re: When should Christmas start?
Many years ago our next door neighbour had a fully lit Santa complete with sleigh and six reindeers on his roof, fantastic display until we had a big storm one year and it nearly took his bloody roof off
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

Hold on this could turn into a TV series starring Sue Spud and Gill46 to rival Christmas Lights, Robson Green and Mark Benson eat your heart out.suespud wrote:If someone will help me post pics I will.....!!!GillD46 wrote:We will only be having three inside this year. Re: When should Christmas start?
Trees decorated and all other bits and bobs are put up 2 weeks before; this year that will be December 11th. Taken down as soon as the new year is done with.................. 3 weeks is quite enough for us.
Two trees out the front either side of the front porch,(they are a permanent feature so just lights added for Christmas each year), a tree in the main living room, lights on a sort of tree, (twigs), in the other lounge and lots of lights on plants and shrubs on the patio. I may get around to even more as I have done in past years.................lights around the conservatory, lights on the front hedge.......who knows, the list is endless, just depends on my mood and stamina at the time, AND whether they all work when taken out of hibernation!!

Re: When should Christmas start?
yes, yes, I know I posted it on the other Christmas thread, but it's just as relevant here:
Mother Christmas
Where art thou, Mother Christmas?
I really wish I knew
Why Father should get all the praise
And no one mentions you.
I’ll bet you buy all the presents
And wrap them large and small
While all the time the dirty swine
Pretends he’s done it all.
So hail to Mother Christmas
The uncomplaining slave
And down with Father Christmas
That good - for - nothing knave.

and halfway through November too.
You could have posted later,
at least a week or two.
Now I'll be getting earache,
right up to Christmas day.
I hope your feeling satisfied,
now you've ruined life for Ray.
I do my bit in other ways,
like carrying all the booze.
And saving all my pennies,
to take her on a cruise.
