I’ll be having words with my car insurer. Just got the renewal quote.
Last year. £328.
This year. £511. !

Don’t think so. I know they said insurance was going up and I can look around but bloody hell, that’s a hell of an hike.!
Last Year £228
Renewal quote £458
I was with Tesco and phoned them up to see if they would come down a bit and it turned out they did not have an accident listed. They said they would send me the updated quote out

Updated renewal quote: £516
Reason for accident, Tesco lorry reversed into my car ... I wasn't even in it. Maybe this is how Tesco are bolstering their profits, get their drivers to damage other vehicles and then up their insurance.

Nice to see you posting again Ken

A few years back wifey and me were in a shop,we came out to see the front bumper was all scraped and a note on the windscreen,a passer by told me a bus had done it.! We went to the depot and spoke to the manager who took photos and the drivers details.I got the car fixed on the insurance. When I came to renew they said I had a ‘ knock for knock’claim.! I nearly knocked the guys head off over the phone.Cheeky bastards then sent me a letter wanting money off me because the bus companies insurance hadn’t paid mine in full.!! You couldn’t make it up.

Spare a thought for our poor unfortunate illegal migrants who are shacked up at RA F Wethersfield in unsuitable accommodation, (it was OK for our service personnel) isolated, miles away from the action, being served inedible food and not able to get medical service. It's affecting their mental health. They are now protesting and some on hunger strike.
Easy way out is to ask for a flight to Rwanda, otherwise just suck it up.
We did not invite them to come.

Why can't the anti oil idiots see that since we will continue to need oil for decades, ir is surely sensible to use our own oil and gain the benefits of jobs and taxes, rather than import it from overseas.

The extra tax revenue will help to pay our pensions, rather than lining the Saudi princes pockets.

Agree 100%. I'm all for phasing out fossil fuels but it will take decades. In the meantime let's use our own rather than import, often from unreliable sources.

Perhaps those who oppose oil should boycott anything that comes from, or uses, oil and see how long they can survive

Yes help, but it will be absorbed into the Exchequers pot, and I agree not line the Saudis pockets.

They won't do that. Like most protesters they expect others to make the sacrifices and take the pain.

Like Emma Thompson flying in business class from the US to protest about climate change.

Another unnecessary life taken and another life ruined, the result of a young teenager taking with him a knife and plunging it into a teenage girl.
When will young people (or anyone) realize that carrying knives is plain madness.
Two more families are left stricken tonight, for one second of stupidity.

As tragic as it is the reality is that it's only going to get worse.

We have a Police force who through no fault if their own are fearful to stop and search just incase they get accused of racism or similar.

Trained armed officers who face murder charges despite having to make split second decisions, why should they put their whole life and livelihood on the line?

Until such time they get proper protection the harsh reality is that violent crime will only get worse and the criminal fraternity know it.

I was watching footage of the athlete who was stopped and searched along with her boyfriend. They were so aggressive and arrogant and I ask why when they had nothing to hide. If they had just complied and not kicked up such a rumpus there would have been no need for handcuffs or for the police to act as they did. From the little I have seen they created the situation themselves.
I was taught to be cautious

We just have to accept the country is fecked.

Our daughter has got a job with Manx care on the Isle of Man. Very low crime rate , low tax and much more money. Cost of living is higher but it’s worth it. And not being made to take migrants, always a bonus.

I think they were out to big it up, because of their colour, but of cause you can't say that fear of being called a racist.

I can’t see that there is a case to answer, however, looking at the video I feel the situation was inflamed somewhat by the amount of police surrounding the vehicle.

They inflamed the situation themselves by initially failing to stop hence more police units were needed to assist.

Fair comment…on reflection a good beating with a truncheon would have calmed the situation down better  :sarcasm:

We seem to be in for more nice days ahead especially for October.
But, do it make you cringe when the headlines shout out 'it's going to be hotter than Santorini' but no mention that the following week it will be cold here, but Santorini will still be hot.

A few days warmth in what is normally a colder month has to be a bonus whatever it does in Santorini the following week... time to get your shorts out Ray
