Re: Football 23/24
Great win for Gillingham last night with a 3-1 win over Southampton who were semi finalists in the EFL Cup last season.
Congratulations to the Gills.

Re: Football 23/24
Great result albeit the Saints changed all 11 players
, clearly focused on going back to the Prem.
Our lot weren't too bothered either and they deffo aren't too clever at taking penalties

Re: Football 23/24
They did have eleven changes but to be fair, we had five, plus, nine of those eleven have started in the Premier League.Manoverboard wrote: 09 Aug 2023, 10:13Great result albeit the Saints changed all 11 players, clearly focused on going back to the Prem.

It wasn't like a reserve side that Southampton put out.
We had three definite first choice starters out injured as well.
With Martin as their manager (ex MK & Swansea), Gills knew exactly what their tactics were.
Pass, pass, pass, pass and then pass again.
Harris set up for a very high press and it worked wonderfully.
Simply put, they want to play like City, without the players to do it.
At 3-0 we really should have had more.
It was an all round excellent team performance.
Back down to earth on Saturday when at home to Accrington Stanley (who are they?)

Sounds like my lot last year under Rodgers except we never got beyond the half way line!!! And we too were rumbled.barney wrote: 09 Aug 2023, 14:04

Is the refereeing at the Women's World cup sexist, I don't think I have seen any male referees or assistants, and yet women officials do now take charge of mens international games.

Just watched the singing of the national anthems at the England Colombia WWC.
Never have I seen or heard a national anthem sung with such enthusiasm or so out of tune! Wonderful!!!

Battling performance by Huddersfield. Not a lot in it apart from one goal. That was the difference.

Take a look at the lyrics and you’ll understand why they were so out of tune… that being said I preferred it to God save Kingoldbluefox wrote: 12 Aug 2023, 11:31Just watched the singing of the national anthems at the England Colombia WWC.

Re: Football 23/24
If they play like that every week there's no reason why they shouldn't move up the table unless they raised their game against a team relegated from the Prem.
It's early days yet. There'll be a few turns in the road before the season ends.

Absolutely! Fantastic performance with “Hemp” taking lady of the match in my book.

Great performance, let's hope Hemp can emulate Hirst on Sunday.
