And looking amazing, especially for someone part way through gruelling cancer treatment. Really hope to see her back fully recovered next year.

Yes’ Sir Merv, the young lady has had more than her fair share of health problems…wishing her well as she battles this one out.

I do know what you mean, however Layton and Nikita have put in some superb performances.oldbluefox wrote: 24 Oct 2023, 21:09No matter to me whether they are gay or straight in my book strictly should stick to man and woman dancing together as a pair. Pure and simple.

Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2023
In the midst of this discussion we've had a flyer in the post advertising Strictly themed weekend breaks at Warners next year. Each one features half a dozen of the show's professionals. Not cheap, in fact quite a bit more than some of their other weekends. But we've booked one in July where the advertised cast includes Amy. So fingers crossed she wins her battle, and has meeting us to look forward to.Onelife wrote: 25 Oct 2023, 11:53Yes’ Sir Merv, the young lady has had more than her fair share of health problems…wishing her well as she battles this one out.

Really enjoyable show tonight with some exceptional dancing…. I thought Annabel was outstanding.
Well, this week’s bottom two should be Craig and Angela, Craig is becoming quite boring what with his ridiculous marking… Angela has had an amazing run but her time is up unless they save her over Nigel.

Looking like Nigel and Angela in the dance off and Angela going out.
I thought the rest were superb tonight.

Layton nailed it again. A born dancer and for me should win the competition.

Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2023
Almost certain that Angela R will be going as no matter who else is in the dance they will be better, unless they fall over! For someone of her age to get this far is no mean achievement.
From now on it is anyone's to lose - unlike many other years there is no clear winner.
They all certainly upped their game this week for Blackpool - it will be somewhat lacklustre next week if it follows the previous pattern.

I agree Stephen, but I hope we are wrong because Foxy put me off putting a tenner on him: shock:Stephen wrote: 19 Nov 2023, 07:58Layton nailed it again. A born dancer and for me should win the competition.
I do however think his chances of winning could be scuppered by prejudices towards LGBT

Not sure whether that is the reason or if it is his West End experience but he does not appear to have much public support. It would not surprise me if he is in the dance off in the next week or so.Onelife wrote: 19 Nov 2023, 09:21I do however think his chances of winning could be scuppered by prejudices towards LGBT

Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2023
I would have thought it would be decided between Layton and Ellie, until I looked at the voting on the spoiler for the first time this season, and was amazed that Layton was next to the bottom. Clearly there is still a lit of prejudice against gay men.Onelife wrote: 19 Nov 2023, 09:21I agree Stephen, but I hope we are wrong because Foxy put me off putting a tenner on him: shock:Stephen wrote: 19 Nov 2023, 07:58Layton nailed it again. It’ll be one or the other if he doesn’t win…he could enhance his chances if he wasn’t so hands on with Nikita.david63 wrote: 19 Nov 2023, 09:32Not sure whether that is the reason or if it is his West End experience but he does not appear to have much public support. For me Layton shouldn't win because he's actually a professional dancer in the West End. To put him in a competition against people who have never danced before is just wrong. Nothing to do with LGBT. I too thought Annabel was excellent last night. I will admit to looking at the Spoiler but no comment, apart from saying the two in the dance off aren't the two couples I thought it would be.

Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2023
I'm not totally convinced that makes any difference as it is a totally different type of dancing. Yes he has some advantage with the music but then so do musicians, actors have an advantage with interpretation, sports people have an advantage with fitness and work ethic. If you tried to have a totally level playing field then there would be nobody in the show - which some would consider a positive!CaroleF wrote: 19 Nov 2023, 12:07Layton shouldn't win because he's actually a professional dancer in the West End

I hadn’t thought of it in them terms David but you make a good point…that being said, I think recent dance experience does give him the edge.

Hear hear Carole. I totally agree with you. He IS a professional dancer and was streets ahead before he even started. Nothing to do with LGBT issues. I think most people nowadays are well past that. Plus, I have to admit he does irritate me. BUT.... he dances wonderfully!! In another scenario I would whole heartedly support him but not on SCDCaroleF wrote: 19 Nov 2023, 12:07For me Layton shouldn't win because he's actually a professional dancer in the West End. What is certain is that he will make the final, it is very unlikely that any of the judges will vote him off if he is in a dance off.

She has finally gone although the length of time she was chomping her gums at the end I thought they might give her a sympathy vote and keep her in.

The time was right. Up to now she's been better than the one who went, but this week it was clear. Who next week though?

Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2023
I think he is totally OTT with his effeminate ways whilst on camera and I find him irritating. And I agree with others that as a professional dancer he is in the wrong show. It makes it unfair on others who have started out as plodders with two left feet having to compete with somebody who has had dance training, appeared in a starring role in the West End and is a professional dancer. There is no doubt he is good, but so he should be.Onelife wrote: 19 Nov 2023, 19:03Hi Maureen…may I ask why he irritates you?MaureenB wrote: 19 Nov 2023, 18:25Hear hear Carole. Not keen on men dancing with men or women with women to be honest although I know old ladies used to dance together 'stately as a galleon'!!!
And no I am not anti gay. Having lived in Blackpool for 20 years, it has a strong gay community and we took no notice but their gaynesses did not flout it, it was never in your face. I also had gay friends but you would never know they were gay.
