Beating Derby County 2-1 at Wembley in the 1994 Play Off Final, not so much for the score or result but for the joy of my late father who had always wanted to go to Wembley with City and to see them win. After many disappointments this was a special moment for my brother and myself.

Re: . . . and . . .momentous
I have already listed the things that first sprang to mind as momentous but I forgot about a flight on an Air France Concorde, possibly because it was stressful, exhausting but also momentous. We were flicking through Teletext on Dec 6th 1997 and spotted a trip on Eurostar and Concorde for £399 each for the following Saturday, December 13th. We had had a rough couple of years following my husband's heart attack and had already spent more than we could afford doing a California Coach Tour plus Hawaii. I booked Concorde and an hour later our son phoned to say he had been offered a promotion to Guildford - could we help out with funds for 2 months rent on a flat. If he had phoned an hour earlier we would not have booked. We left the Island on the 2am boat having had no sleep, got to Waterloo about 4.30am, sat around in the freezing cold for the 8.30 Eurostar. Promptly fell asleep on the trip to Gare du Nord in Paris so missed that new experience. Picked up by a coach with a guide with such a strong accent that we could hardly understand the tour around the sights. Dropped off near the Galerie Lafeyette but didn't dare go in because if we had come out of a different door we wouldn't have known where we were. Streets were heaving as it was Christmas and we were exhausted and spotted a M&S grocery store so sat in there for an hour or more while we waited to be picked up round the corner at 5pm. Taken to Charles de Gaulle airport, into a very posh lounge with free drinks. 7.30pm told that there was a technical hitch so taken to Hotel Sofitel for a meal. Eventually took off at 10pm instead of 8pm and because of the delay we only did 29 minutes at supersonic. Funnily enough the take off and the landing were the most exciting and noisiest and the supersonic bit was almost disappointing compared to those. We eventually got back to Portsmouth about 4am and had to sit on a freezing station for the 6am boat to the Isle of Wight. We certainly had no regrets about doing it, just a lot of worry over finances for a while afterwards especially due to my husband's health. However, when the sad decision was made to stop flying Concorde we knew we had made the right decision and had no regrets. So stressful due to lack of finances and not enough preparation for the trip but also momentous.
