Interesting to see others from RAF Scampton on here. We were there late 80's to early 90's

Yesterday was quiet something here in Lincoln also with the Cathedral fly past and the Lancaster came over work around 12.00 and 16.00. Many people rushing to the windows at the sound of the mighty Merlin engines.

My OH was also a Shiny in SHQ Alan. :D
Small world, June! I left in '82, just after the Vulcans did, on to Coningsby for a few months then exchanged to Cranwell. It's possible he and I may have crossed paths at sometime....

Hi Alan,
You may well have crossed paths, he went to Cranwell in 1990 and stayed there until Xmas last year.

Hi June, I take it he's a civvy?

I left Cranwell in 1985, to go down to Stanmore.

Yes Alan, he took a position working on Cranwell until something else turned up and stayed 23 years.

Now just relaxing. Oh what a life!!

According to my 'What's on TV'......Channel 5...12:20 today Michael Redgrave and Richard Todd star in the 1954 fact-based WW2 drama.....The Dam Busters.

Just thought I would mention it.

PS....What's on TV can be unreliable :problem:

I've got it on DVD, but thanks for the heads-up. It'll afford me a very brief glance at my old office window!

Isn't there supposed to be a re-make in the offing ?

The movie, that is, not your office window, SS !

Yes, I believe Stephen Fry is involved in some way. Also, to appease American sensitivities, Gibson's dog has been renamed from Nigger to Digger.

In that case they'll probably be using B17s rather than Lancasters, too!

I don't think I have ever watched a film on the telly during a Saturday lunchtime before...I have today....what a jolly good film it was too old boy, rather spiffing what and very believable as well, so I reckon it must be quite close to the truth

What brave men those blokes were.
