I was once at a funeral and one of the attendees was working nights and half way through the service his alarm went off on his mobile.

Unfortunately it played 'always look on the brightside of life' very embarrasing.

Our hospice chaplain told me that at some convention he attended, the RC Bishop of Liverpool related a tale of the time he was conducting a funeral service, and a mobile phone started ringing inside the coffin!

We discussed might have happened if the phone hadn't rang, but pall bearers had tilted the coffin when picking it up. The change of position could have caused the phone to call a pre-stored number. Then while they were carrying it on their shoulders, with an ear against the coffin, the call would be answered, and they suddenly heard a voice saying "Hello? Hello?"

What would they have done had they heard another voice, somewhat clearer, saying they were a bit busy......

I did once get in trouble with plod, for shark hunting, in a town centre fountain at 4 am on a sunday morning
they were not convinced how big a threat to public safety the sharks were and they felt it would be better for all concerned if I had a night in a comfy cell to consider my choice of night time activities
