There is a foot brake on my side of the car, but unfortunately it doesn't work.
Cut a hole in the floor and use your foot.
HTH :)

It was good enough for Mr Flintstone!

Until I started reading this thread, I didn't know push button electronic handbrakes existed! The concept make me feel very uneasy.....

It shouldn't be telling you that the car behind is too close, it should be telling the idiot to back off to a safe distance!
I'm sure it would be a simple accessory to link it to a 5 kilowatt PA system with vary large loudspeakers fitted to the back of your car to warn them off. And to automatically fire heat seeking-missiles 30 seconds later if they're still there.

I think I might take the idea on Dragon's Den.

I knew of a guy back in the mid 70s who had an 8-track player linked to a 50W amp in the boot, that belted out "Get off my ***** tail". Apparently it had the desired effect...

Seriously, though, the technology is there to do some sort of warning system. If the system knows how fast you're going, and how close the vehicle behind is, it should be a simple calculation for a chip to send a message to a matrix display in the rear window. With these parking cameras becoming more common, it could also be used to photograph the registration of the offending vehicle.

I still think my missiles would be more effective. They'd not need telling again.

I forgot to mention the most important gadget in my car. Heated front seats.. I can so recommend them. The seats are warmed up within a couple of minutes, so that on the coldest day, when the car heater is a bit sluggish, it is lovely and cosy in the seat.
I had to do some persuading to get my OH to have this system fitted, but now he is hooked.

I certainly like the idea of a flashed up notice in the rear window.

We both have heated seats in our cars, have had them in all my cars, and most of my husband's, for 25 years or so and simply wouldn't be without them any more. We also have the push button handbrake, which seems to work perfectly well and is less effort than the traditional handbrake.

Heated seats are not recommended for men!! I was told by cricketing friend and doctor, that they are detrimental to the operation of some very important functions of the male body.
