Nationwide have an account which charges £10pm but includes travel insurance, breakdown recovery, phone insurance amongst others, and pays 3% on your account up to £2500. Details here.
I was taught to be cautious

Thank you everyone for your help. I will try to have a' tactful word' with our friends and suggest it may be a good idea if they found out from their insurers what the situation would be with regard to pre existing illnesses.

Re: Travel Insurance Help
renewing ehics online is easy if your details are the same. I renewed mine and OH's in one 'transaction'
it's free and they say they'll arrive in 10 days

You made me think Gill and I have just looked at ours . The last ones were issued in September 2013 and expire September 2018.

Thanks for the info Meg. Renewed ours last evening - very quick - and should receive them within 10 days. When applying or renewing online just make sure you go to the official EHIC site as there are lots of sites with similar names and they will charge you.

Re: Travel Insurance Help
Trouble with travel insurance, or insurance in general, is, that you have no idea how good the company is at settling claims, until you make one. As we don't want to be in a position to have to make a claim, we just have to keep on paying out and hoping for the best. We like to believe that should a claim be necessary we will receive the money for everything we need, swiftly and without any problems. There is a thread running on this site about a claim that has fallen just short of everything asked for, causing disappointment and upset. We insure through our Bank Account as many do, but fortunately, we have not had to claim, so don't know how good it is????????

Re: Travel Insurance Help
Hi everyone. I know I started this topic a few months ago and I thank you all for your help and advice. We did manage to get a good deal through Sainsbury's bank and they insured Brian for his illness. Last May he was hospitalised with Nephrotic Syndrome. This is a condition effecting the kidneys. He went through hell and back and he is now in remission. He could have lost his kidney's but fortunately that did not happen. We had to cancel two cruises last year but managed to go on the Arcadia in December and are off on the Britannia Maiden next month. So, fingers crossed. Thank you all once again and happy cruising.
Regards
Chris

I think it was Stephen's post, but he's a modest soul, so don't say I told you
