Re: Is it true that we drink too much?
I don't think the over 65's of Lambeth are representative of the entire population, and I don't think that once people hit 65 they are going to suddenly start binge drinking, if they haven't done that for the rest of their lives.
I like a glass of wine from time to time, and no doubt will continue to do so when I reach the advanced age of 65, but with alcohol, I can take it or leave it

Couldn't agree more Barney .. this isn't a rehearsal it's for real so enjoy it while you can, I dobarney wrote:I definately drink too much
I know it !
I usually have a glass of white with dinner and may have another couple during the course of the evening.
Does it worry me?
Nah !!
My theory is that you are going to die of something and anyway, I don't want to live to be ancient.
Many have an unusual desire for longevity of life as opposed to quality.
Not me.![]()

I couldn't afford 65 a day, let alone drink it!

It's only 10 years until I reach that advanced age.
It's a well known fact that old people are always 30 years older than the age you are now..... So 65 isn't even nearly old!

I think, John and Gill, that despite our advanced years, we are still children at heart and enjoy our 'old age'.Gill W wrote:It's only 10 years until I reach that advanced age.

You are forgiven Gill.

Covering a multitude of recent threads. We are in St Ives at present enjoying several drinks on The Sloop upper deck, threatened by seagulls squawking and pooping at every opportunity whilst we patiently await completion on our new home.
Already had far more than the recommended daily dose as per norm. AND out of respect for the sad thread, Frittonite's farewell post, raised more than one glass to him.
Cheers to you Frittonite, a dignified and brave gentleman who commands respect.
