Re: For Information
Always good when you wake up after an NHS adventure. Last year as I came round the anaesthetist said "Hello do you remember me?" My reply was "Yes and I'm very pleased to see you again."
Onwards and upwards David.

The last time I was in hospital I woke up with an erection, then I realised they had plastered my leg

Re: For Information
I don't want to worry you David......but I believe he works at the hospital your in
A patients experience:
I woke up from my anaesthetic and saw my doctor standing over me, smoking a fag. "Blimey!" I said. "I knew never you smoke, doc."
"I do..." he replied with a smile, "... especially after I've had sex."

Re: For Information
Well the escape committee came good and got me out of hospital on Thursday and I am now the proud owner of a stoma, and all that goes with it. Hopefully within the next 12 months or so I can have it reversed.
All I have to do now is take things easy and do as I am told! Big downside is that I cannot drive for the next six weeks.

Glad to hear the first hurdle is complete David. Somebody we know had what sounds like a similar adventure last year but is now stoma free and fighting fit. Best wishes for your recovery. As I know from last year when you're getting over an op nothing feels better than your own home and own bed.

Re: For Information
Why - there is nothing that will change in my life other than having to change a bag a couple of times a day. In fact it has given me my life back as I can now go wherever I want without the constant worry of what could happen.
Thanks, but I have spent enough time in hospital recently

I like your positivity David and your take on your situation which let’s face it none of us can possibly comprehend unless we have been through your experience. May your glass always be half full - take care.

Re: For Information
Because I was speaking to a colorectal nurse specialist who said (depending on your procedure) you’ll need to empty your bag 4-6 times a day and change your bag 3-4 times a week.david63 wrote: 31 Oct 2021, 08:58Why - there is nothing that will change in my life other than having to change a bag a couple of times a day. I was talking to the postman and he assures me that two changes per day are perfectly normal.Onelife wrote: 31 Oct 2021, 09:46Because I was speaking to a colorectal nurse specialist who said (depending on your procedure) you’ll need to empty your bag 4-6 times a day and change your bag 3-4 times a week.

Re: For Information
Great attitude David. When sh*t happens you just have to get on with it.
I thought the environmentalists were trying to do away with bags, or are you forking out the 5-10p charge
