For that you'd need an e-swig.

you can bet they will want them banned as well. Just as a thought, more people are killed or seriously injured in motor accidents than smoking related so why dont they put big pictures of injuries sustained by RTA victims on every car as they do with cigarettes.
The RAF tried something similar about 35 years ago. Didn't work.

I hope it's better than those extra mild Silk Cut cigs you used to be able to get - couldn't tell you were smoking them.

Always smoked the same brand since day one
hopefully the E cig will reduce the impact of smoking on my health and help me stop for good, so has to be worth a try

I hope it works DK. Apart from the health implications it's an expensive pastime nowadays.

done quite a bit of research the last 3/4 days on e cigs
according to the studies, the medical grade nicotine, does not have any of the health issues, that tobacco and proper cigarettes do, so that's good
secondly the cost of the refills is a fraction of the cost of cigarettes at around £0.50 per day if that, rather than £8-9.00 per packet
so that is saving of thousands in a year to boot

Sorry DK, I was talking about the cost of cigarette smoking.

Can you not buy your refills in bulk? OK you'd have to walk around with a cylinder on your back but it would work out much cheaper!!

Hi DK
I gave up ten years ago after smoking 40 a day from age of 14 stopped at 55 I did it with patches and a lot of support from our surgery it took three months had a couple relapses in that time but I can honestly say it was not that hard
First weeks or so the craving was hard but that wears off I have never touched another one since and if only I had done it much earlier

I presume that it must be harder during the first days and weeks to give up the longer you have been smoking and the higher your daily consumption is.

Given the extra constraints on smoking on board vs shoreside ( no smoking in most outdoor areas on board or in ANY private space (from 2014) cruising would be an excellent opportunity to follow-through the decision to give up and place your self in areas, venues and activities where smoking is not permitted (which can be suited to encompass all interests and inclinations from sport to lazy sunbathing, from wine-tasting to bridge, a port lecture to swimming, &c., &c.

Like any addiction it's is hard at first the craving makes your mind do funny things all you can think about is trying to stop that feeling
But like drink and drugs the craving does start to diminish after a couple of weeks and you think about smoking less and less
There are many products out there to help but support and will power and above all the desire to kick the habit.
Like other addictions there are people that just don't want to give up we see it every day drug addicts wanting to get a fix drinkers looking for the next drink
I have friends that enjoy a cigarette that's there choice

I think it should be made illegal to smoke whilst driving. Friends of ours lost there daughter in a car crash when the driver of the car dropped the cigarette he was smoking and lost control of the car. How on earth do you manage to light up when you are driving, for a start you probably have to fish them out of your handbag/briefcase/glove compartment, take one out of the packet, light it, distinguish the match or make sure the lighter thing has extinguished and all this whilst trying to concentrate on the road and avoid the idiots who are on their mobile phones or munching on a big mac.

Very hard to police it
I have heard of drivers losing control putting a CD on, looking in glove box, changing channels on radio, eating, lots of things to distract in a car even talking to fellow passenger.
You can't ban it all.
I do think that banning the use of a phone would make a difference but again as we know very hard to police

In addition to the above, I would add that to quit you need the support of those around you in that they also help you avoid situations where you would be inclined to light-up.

In terms of using a mobile phone whilst driving, a fine of £60 is clearly not enough. A total driving ban for life is what is required. I am at a total loss to see why people don't have hand free kits, you can buy them from the local petrol station for a few quid.

Yes support from friends and family is important but the determination to succeed is the most important factor
I can remember sitting in the garden and my craving saying go on one fag is not going to hurt and my brain saying don't you dare it's very easy to say oh one is not going hurt

I have that tee-shirt as well, haveabeer. But as they say you only need to give up one cigarette ... the next one. I remember for well over a year finding half packets around the house in various jackets, trouser pockets, cupboards, and drawers. It used to be a measure of how long it had been since I last wore a particular jacket :)

It was the same with my business partner. After he died from lung cancer his widow kept finding half-opened packets in all sorts of places. It was a very poignant time for her.

And the crying of a baby in a baby seat?
Oh, and sneezing - that should be banned. Have you ever tried sneezing without closing your eyes? :?

You shouldn't actually try that ... years back the final story on the news, the unusual or funny one, was a man who arrived at hospital with an eye hanging out ... he claimed the cause had been trying to sneeze with his eyes open. made me laugh and wince in equal measures
