It's one of those grey areas in the laws. It wasn't hand ball because it hit him above the t shirt line.

Is that actually in the rule book?

Carragher made the point, “ If it hits the material it’s not hand ball. What if he’s wearing a long sleeve shirt.?”

I'm no great friend of Ronaldo and company but I thought it a definite hand ball which gave Boro an advantage and led to a goal.
Similarly I thought if the ball hit you on the arm it's a hand ball.
However it's 50 years since I did my refereeing exam so what do I know?
After the past week I'd say not a lot.

Not in as many words but if you Google "football handball rules" it shows you a diagram of which part of the arm is deemed as handball.

(Sorry. I tried to post a link but for some reason it didn't work)

ObF.......The Law was changed in 2020 I think. It definately wasn't handball.

Too late for me. Just think of the number of goals I could have scored under the new rules.

When did it become legal to wrestle with the opposing side at corners. I don't like these changes to the rules. I might take up tiddlywinks.

If you remember they tried to make shirt pulling a penalty offence, but that didnt last long when the referees complained that if they applied that rule it would result in a penalty at every corner and free kick.

I suppose it's also within the rules to surround the goalkeeper so he can't get out at a corner either........... :lolno:

You can have my ticket MoB if you want. We can't go now. My friend who drives to away games can't get away from work early enough for us to get there on time. Public transport is a complete no no so I'll have to listen to it on the radio.

No not now, I refuse to pay for it. I've go BT Sport but hardly watch it. I don't watch a lot of football on telly. I could go round to another friends or go down the pub. I'll see how I feel.

I shall be watching Gillingham v Wimbledon on Ifollow.
A genuine six pointer.
Win and we’re back in the game.
Lose and it will be extremely difficult.
Just noticed today that Charlton are only nine points above the drop zone in league one.
How the mighty have fallen.
I can remember the Curbishley out brigade, complaining he’d took them as far as he could.
A lesson for all teams.
Ipswich, Sunderland, Portsmouth, Charlton, Sheffield Wednesday, all slumming it with Accrington Stanley 😂
Who are they ?

Well , 0-0 and it’s now going to be a task of Herculean proportions to stay up.
As expected, totally dominated but just couldn’t get it in the net. Credit to Wimbledon. Came for a point and got a point.
Injury time scramble with the ball pinging everywhere except the goal.
No luck when near the bottom.
That’s football and that’s why we are addicted to it.

I got shot of BT Sport end of last season but kept SKY.

' Our ' game, as you probably know, isn't live but the full 90+ minutes are being screened overnight so I'll probably watch it late on Thursday afternoon.

You will be OK next season then Moby, most midweek championship games are live on the red button.

I didn't realise we weren't live MoB, I assumed because it's a 7.30 kick off that it was. Oh well back to listening to it on the wireless.

From a Watford attacking view it probably will but Watford usually kick Wilf for 90 mins. I thought you would enjoy watching that.
