MOTD with GL will be back next weekend and the ' Rules ' will be modified to permit freedom of speech.

Sounds sensible to me.

Reviewed was the word. Let's not make assumptions. And GL has agreed to aside by the current rules until the review is complete. Very generous as that what he is contractually obliged to do. I'm sure if he'd agreed that before the weekend he would never have been suspended.

Of course but let's face it the BBC has climbed down and now realises that free speech on Social Media platforms in 2023 will not be silenced by Dickensian rules. A prediction rather than a fact ;)

I was never a great fan of Alex Ferguson but he was correct when he said "No player is bigger than the club" and subsequently sold David Beckham and one or two others. My feelings are if you are not happy in your place of work you move. This is not the first time Lineker has broken the rules and if he doesn't like them (Dickensian or not) he should ply his trade elsewhere. Changes to the rules should be taken up in-house, not challenged on social media.
Hopefully the Beeb will see him through to the end of his contract and not renew. The same goes for Shearer, Wright and anybody else who is unhappy with the terms of the contract they signed.

I really don't understand why Lineker is paid so much by the BBC, he was a good footballer, but even then a better financial advisor as he maximised his earnings from his playing career. He has done a fair job of fronting the BBCs soccer coverage, but as his boy next door demeanour has gradually been replaced with a cynical view of life, and an apparent attitude change that he alone knows what is best, whether in football or in life, his humble smile has been replaced with a contemptuous smirk.
Maybe, whatever the outcome of the BBCs review, it is time for a change, there are plenty of fresh new football bloods on Sky as well as the BBC, who would be a lot cheaper than Lineker.

Point of order re Dickensian rules. I don't think they had Twitter in Dickens's time.

And I agree Towny. I find him arrogant. The same applies to all celebrities who think their status gives them a right to lecture me. Another "favourite" of mine is Emma Thompson, flying in Business Class from the US to tell us how to save the planet. I bet you don't see her cycling to the shops.

I was watching a Gills blogger yesterday who pointed out that had we had our post Xmas form in the first half of the season, we’d be top and on target for 92 points.
It’s got to be one of the biggest turn arounds in recent years.

The Gills have also been loyal to their manager who has contributed the Gillingham's new found success. Harris of course had returned that loyalty, he must have tempted to get out of there When it comes to managers patience is what you need. It pays off in the long run.

I’d imagine that Palace won’t have to sack Viera because he’d more than likely resign if they are relegated.
I personally not opposed to clubs changing manager if things are going disastrously wrong but one club (?) seems to regularly do it just because they are not doing as well as the ridiculous expectations of the owners.

Hopefully they will show patience. We have had an awful run of results, we couldn't score in a brothel and we've even stopped creating chances. Our next two games are away to Brighton and away to Arsenal, we are very close to the drop zone.

But we have very good young players all signed by Viera. A spell in the Championship won't be such a bad thing. I dislike the Premier League with a passion anyway
