As an ideal I could not disagree with you but an ideal is all it is. In practice it just does not work. Political parties cannot agree within themselves so no chance there would be any agreement with others. We would simply end up with a fudge, a bit like your chocolates
Just because you/and the country as a whole have had bad experiences with my chocolates, it doesn’t mean that with considerable debate and progressive thinking a new brand of chocolates couldn't be created.

I’ve visited Cadbury world a couple of times but no I’m not a Quaker…however, wouldn’t it be nice if this countries workforce worked under the same ethos administered by the Cadbury family?
