Forgive my lack of knowledge about such matters but wasn't the Grand National early in April???

Rest assured David if “Toimy Son” wins tomorrow I’ll be starting my very own subscription only tipping thread…. if it doesn’t win, I’ll be blaming Pompy for putting the mockers on it

Whilst you might possibly have a chance with Toimy Son....I don't think there is much hope that 8 yr old Sean will return as a winner. He's been racing in the UAE and still hasn't won. Although he has raced at Epsom in a group 3 race but that was in June
Maybe a Hand of God would be a better choice

Toimy Son who to my surprise started as 2nd fav ....ran this afternoon and looking at the race video he was well beaten....he came in 7th place. My Cloud was much more impressive coming from the back to run on & win by 3 1/2 lengths

Sean is running on Saturday 14:20 and I'll be surprised if he wins.....but maybe just maybe Onelife has got some inside information or maybe his assessment of the form is spot on.....we will have to wait and see.
Well I won't be able to as from my other post I'm away & will also miss the 2000 & 1000 guineas

Good afternoon, Pompy/David…Having witnessed the dismal run of “Toimy Son” I have now perfected the art of getting my tail between my legs. Not a pretty sight but one has to do what one has to do in times such as this. The one thing about putting yourself out there is that you’re only as good as your last winner so I move forward with renewed hope that “Sean” can once again restore my envied reputation of being the Forums best loser tipster

Just to get back to the topic title Grand national ....Jockey Rachael Blackmore retired today having had over 550 winners in her career including 18 winners at the Cheltenham Festival.Up to now she is the most successful female jump jockey and was the first woman to win the Grand National riding Minella Times in 2021

There are few female jump jockeys that you can honestly say are equal to that of our best male jockeys… Racheal Blackmore is one of them. As with most jump jockeys she has had her fair share of broken bones and her last serious neck injury was probably the determining factor as to why she has decided to hang up her boots now?

Thanks for the memories, Racheal.

Went to Ludlow races on Sunday (ladies’ day) unfurtunatly it was a very poor card with limited runners in each race…only two contended the first race and it didn’t get much better in the second with only three lining up. Just for a bit of interest I decided to have a bet in the first and just as I was about to place a bet this chap appeared to the side of me and said “£500 on number 2 – I thought he was a bit rude but he obviously wanted to take the price on offer, this price being 4/5.. I turned to the bookie and said “my tenner falls into insignificance after that bet…he just smiled. Anyway, I took 1/1 on the other horse which resulted in me winning a tenner and the other punter losing £500.

Overall, I lost on the day but an enjoyable days racing nevertheless.

Have you ever been to Ludlow Races Portsmouth? I’ve been to around 20 jump courses around the country but still I rate Ludlow as one of the most enjoyable.

No, I've never been to Ludlow Races......or Cheltenham, Aintree plus most of the others
but I have enjoyed a days racing at Royal Ascot, Goodwood, Doncaster & Wetherby but that was a few years ago.

Did consider going to the Derby this year at Epsom in June...... cheapest tickets £30 on The Hill or Upper Tattenham
but the Grandstand Enclosure is where I would prefer to be £72 pp but probably won't be able to go.

While going racing is relatively speaking cheaper than a lot of sporting events it still comes at a cost. Ludlow races is considered one of the lower grade meetings but gate prices are still £25 + £3 for a race card + as was the case last Sunday a round of drinks costing £33 you certainly need to be on the ball picking winners to off sett that outlay.
