I hope Miss Willy and her boss were proud of themselves.

People who are completely unaware of other people...... into lifts, out of lifts, in checkout queues; fumbling in their purses. On bikes on the pavement, on bikes at red traffic lights, riding bikes the wrong way in a one way street drivers who don't indicate. .Also nuisance phone calls & beetroot. But cats can do no wrong! You know the lovely baguettes in open wrappers in supermarket - usually found in bakery section - how people find it really just normal to stand and touch and feel each one before picking the most suitable! Not nice when the top of wrapper is open and they're touching each one!! I witnessed this again only yesterday.
I suppose there's lots of other gripes that people will now list - from the buffet restaurant on cruise ships! Go on everyone, we've all witnessed those not so thoughtful people haven't we!

Mmm I have to agree with Johnthedog on those points - also people misspelling things to mean something else - what about the word "definitely" - don't you often see "defiantly" which means something completely different!! It's not even that they just mis-spell it as "defiNATly!" And there's loads more!JOHNTHED0G wrote:People who say "haich" instead of "aich" for the letter ''H''. People who end their sentences on an ascending almost interrogative note as if asking a question when they are not.

Keep me away from reporters and supposedly educated people who cannot tell the difference between less and fewer. Quotes like 'We have less policemen now' annoy me. Does it mean they are shorter, thinner or have limbs missing? 'Less people going on holiday?' What does that mean? Reporters and media people should know better!!

Too right, OBF.
Why can't people talk proper, like wot I does?
The standard of education in this country is appalling.

Hate when queuing for petrol the person in front takes soooo long to get going. Putting purse away, putting bag away, putting on belt slowly, starting car, looking in mirror before getting out of the way!

I hate arrogant drivers who tailgate/undercut/flash to bully you out of the way on the motorway when you are doing the speed limit. What makes them think they are above the law? I also hate drivers who don't leave a car's length in front of them when it's busy so that other vehicles can enter a motorway from a slip road. All three lanes are chocabloc, and drivers don't have anywhere to filter in, everyone is nose to tail and we all have to stop then to let people in. If everyone left a space, cars could filter on and we could all keep moving. There is some appalling driving out there.

Re: Pet Hates
Mo, the Highway Code says 'Joining the motorway. When you join the motorway you will normally approach it from a road on the left (a slip road) or from an adjoining motorway. You should
give priority to traffic already on the motorway
check the traffic on the motorway and match your speed to fit safely into the traffic flow in the left-hand lane'
Most people, if it is possible, will move over or ease up in order to let others join the motorway but they don't have to. Unfortunately some seem to think it is their right to come down the sliproad and move immediately into the inside lane. The space between cars is their braking distance. A lot of people expect to come straight onto the motorway but the Highway Code is quite clear on this.
I had a spat with white van man once over this. I was in the inside lane doing 70 (ish!!) when white van man came hurtling down the sliproad. I wasn't sure whether anyone was overtaking me so I stayed in the inside lane and he had to slow down to join the motorway behind me. He wasn't a happy bunny at all!! Tough!!! Having said that if I can mover over or if there is space I will let cars in, but remember it is not always possible to do so.
Similarly it doesn't matter what speed you are doing if the lane on your inside is empty that is where you should be. Lanes 2 and 3 are for overtaking. It's quite frustrating when traffic queues because of the middle lane hoggers. What's wrong with the inside lane? If it's empty, use it, overtake slower moving traffic and return to the lane when it is safe to do so.

OBF, you took the words out of my mouth.
Twice now I've had a dipstick, who was parked on the hard shoulder in the distance, switch his hazards off, put the right indicator on and pull away onto the inside lane before before accelerating up to cruising speed. With traffic in the middle and outer lanes, where was I supposed to go? Mo's right, there are some idiots out there.
How many these people have actually passed a driving test?

Re: Pet Hates
I actually think driving standards are quite high. Considering the number of idiots on the road it's a credit to the rest there are not more accidents. The trouble is now you are not only thinking for yourself but also for others, trying to anticipate what they are going to do.
How refreshing it is though when somebody anticipates you are going to be overtaking and flashes to let you out before you have started indicating. And how nice it is when somebody acknowledges when you let them out.
Then there are those who sit on your offside quarter, forcing you to brake even after you have decelerated already. Either go past me or let me out, make up your mind. Others don't know the meaning of a thank you.
Must stop, I'm sounding a right grumpy old s*d!!!

I try to avoid women with little children in the front and old men in flat caps. I always give them a wide berth but it seems they are never aware anybody else is on the road.
