Surely everyone dresses for work. The mind boggles at the bodies that would be on view.

There's dressing and there's dressing, Andrea. One young lady I worked alongside wore clothes that were too revealing (she was the receptionist), her replacement was ordered to wear a neck-scarf to cover her multiple "love bites".
David, I trust you are going by hearsay, or is there something you wish to tell us?

Thanks, sadly it is not permanent, I fly out again later today.Silver_Shiney wrote:Broad, sweeping statements? Not at all, sir. I'd call them "specific and pointed". I suspect you are judging reality by today's low moral standards where anything goes, and if it impacts on someone else, tough - at least, that's what I see around me on a daily basis.Kendhni wrote:Some very broad sweeping statements there, SS ... I would suggest possibly born out of what you would like to think rather than reality. I never understood the relationship to 'respect', if someone thinks someone else is being disrespectful by not conforming to their preconceived ideas of how the other person should be dressed, then it is equally (possibly more) disrespectful of that person to be so judgemental ... respect is earned and should not be expected.
Ingrained prejudice or ingrained (but shrinking) sense of what is actually right and proper? Why is it sad that many still think that?Kendhni wrote:I agree with you about 'first impressions' ... but only on the grounds of peoples ingrained prejudice and desire/need for others to conform to their expectations ... sadly that is the way many still think. Many years ago I was sub-contracted to a company that had casual dress code .. unfortunately our company had not quite come up to date at that point so we were forced to wear suit and tie ... it gave a them-and-us atmosphere, something that even the management noticed, to the point that they requested our management to relax the code for us. After that we fitted in well and their in-house and contract teams merged really well. So it really does work both ways.Agreed, but I don't understand how that covers mutilating yourself.Kendhni wrote:Arguably, you should respect yourself enough to allow your own personality and skills to shine through and speak for themselves ... respect earned based on a false or made up persona simply to show conformance to someone else's prejudice is worth nothing.Incidentally, it's good to see you back on the forum. You have been missed,
