Of course they should post. Mods still have opinions and are liable to be moderated if they overstep the mark. I can't see that the fact they post openly on the forum makes any difference to the way they moderate or the way they think. Personally I'm not keen on faceless moderators whom nobody knows.

Besides how else can I take the mickey out of the others when my team wins?

A definite "NO" from me.

Moderators should NOT be able to post.

They have a specific job... to moderate... to moderate "only".

When moderators are able to post as well as "moderate", there sure seems something wrong with the site set-up. This breeds suspicion over controversial things etc., etc.

Moderators should (in the scheme of things) remain impartial. They should NOT be allowed to air their views on anything whatsoever.

IMO if you don't like how the moderators run this forum, well tough.
They are as much a part of this forum as anyone else is. They have been involved with the people on.hete for years as normal posters.
I totally trust their judgement and their ability to cope with anything this forum throws at them!!!

If mods could not post why would they come on the site at all. The mods we have make excellent contributions to this site.

Totally agree, Sue, although I understand where Gina is coming from.

Perhaps, if it was ABSOLUTELY necessary, we could say moderators should not contribute to the actual threads they moderate but can comment in the others.

But, again, as Sue said, I trust their judgement so have no problem at all with them puttng in their three-ha'pence.

Last time I looked, this country was (all be it by the skin of its teeth) a democracy with a semblance of free speech.

Well said Sue, I think a very large percentage of us appreciate just what David has done here from what I can see it is very well moderated and long may it continue, let's not forget even moderators can be "red inked" as you say if people don't like how David is running "his forum" then I do believe the light switch is by the door
