It appears that all the clubs at the top apart from Cardiff, are fighting tooth and nail to avoid promotion...Perhaps they have heard...The Premiership ain't the wonderful place that it is perceived to be.

Re: Football
Ain't sure who is going to be relegated from the Championship but it looks as if at least one team will go down with 50 points....That's unbelieveable but in a league where the favourites to go down (Peterborough) can do the double over the Champions elect, anything is possible.

That's the biggest joke of the season, Hull winning promotion, surely not.....Having said that the Premier League are welcome to them....I think Derby's record might go if they were to go up.Admiral of the Humber wrote:Boring Hull City seem to be nudging themselves towards automatic promotion....

Re: Football
50 points has usually been seen as safe but not this year I expect.
The year Gills got relegated from the Championship, we went down on goal difference with 53 points
It was sort of inevitable really. Miles out of our financial comfort zone and punching above our weight every game.
Still five exciting seasons that I never thought I'd see in my life time.
League one is our natural level

If they do go up, joke or not, there will be a lot of happy football fans in Hull and I for one don't mind them having their moment of glory. As for next year, even an egg chaser like me realises that the team that goes up will largely be nothing like the team that will be playing in the Premier League next year. I also think most fans would rather see their team playing unsuccessfully in a higher league than averagely to good in a lower one.

Rob aka the bloke just going out to see his average Superleague team take on another average Superleague team. Come on you Ullllll.

I think not ... too many games against relegation contenders so more likely to finish up in the play-offs.Admiral of the Humber wrote:Boring Hull City seem to be nudging themselves towards automatic promotion....
Watford on the other hand have mainly mid table games left so the preasure is on Hull for that 2nd spot

we are destined for a top 10 finish at best, a poor result yesterday, which could mean we miss the play offs

Oh dear Dark Knight. Just when you thought everything was going well, the Sheep fell off the rails. Follow Derby County - the ecstasy and the agony.
Much like our season really!!!
I should be grateful though. For some it's the agony, and more agony so mustn't complain. I love this football lark. I'd get bored if we won every week although that's something I have never experienced with City.

Re: Football
I see goal line technology is to be introduced next season. In my book it's not before time especially since the difference and the impact of winning and losing is so great nowadays. Whilst some of the decisions are so fine as to be impossible for a referee to spot, some are so blatant you can't believe the ref and linesmen failed to see them (Frank Lampard's goal vs Germany).
When you look at the way technology has been incorporated into rugby and tennis it makes you wonder why it has taken football so long to catch up.

Re: Football
It has taken this long because of the old farts pulling the strings ...
There was also the Watford vs Reading goal that wasn't
Not before time of course and something that should trickle down to the other Leagues

Re: Football
And there was that goal at Old Trafford, Spurs was it? The goalkeeper virtually picked it up from the back of the net and threw it back in and the ref waved play on. Some of these incidents are so obvious, it's little wonder clubs and fans leave feeling cheated. Likewise the game is so fast nowadays it's maybe unreasonable to believe the ref can keep up with everything that's going on.
Hopefully it won't be long before it does trickle down to lower league football.

Well that's another 2 points we've dropped in the last 5 minutes. We had plenty of good chances but didn't put it away and were undone by a dodgy penalty. Talk about frustrated.

My dear Mr OBF
Slightly amused this PM
A couple on TV Quiz show
Claimed they were married in the now sadly defunct Filbert Street sado football stadia
. . . . and their marriage has mimicked the ups and downs of said football club
Not too sure are they currently on a high or low
BTW they lost out on the Tv jackpot
Thanks for listening fellow shipmates
, , , and a very generous weekend to all
Lubooo all

gfwgfw,
I think a roller coaster would have been equally as appropriate.
As for scoring.................. we'd better not go down that avenue.

Re: Football
I can't believe how supposedly professional footballers on exorbitant wages can make such elementary errors. It's suicidal to dribble the ball TOWARDS your own penalty area at any time and even a clogger in parks football would know to put the ball into row Z but not my lot.
However if you aren't good enough to beat the likes of Barnsley, Millwall & Co you are not good enough to go into the Prem.
I see your friend Mr Zola was in the crowd last night. I doubt he saw anything which would give him a disturbed night's sleep unless our owners made him an irresistable offer to take over next season!!! Good luck this afternoon Mob, and to all our footballing friends on the forum.

Well thanks for nothing, Watford. I was banking on them to beat Peterboro.
Oh well, Town had a great result today.....just need to follow that up away at Blackburn mid-week.

Newsagent delivered Non League Paper this morning instead of League Paper!!! Is this an omen? Is the fat lady singing?
Off on Adonia on Wednesday - so miss the last 2 games - perhaps I shall be in the better place!
