Why does the BBC news concentrate so much time on interviewing one person who is struggling to get a covid test at a convenient testing centre, but totally ignores the many thousands who have no problems. Especially when this person first applied for a test on Saturday, but has only today requested a home testing kit.
They love a bit of drama John 😁
Imagine just reporting the news?
They have to fill 24hours.
What about Kay Burley at breakfast this morning trying to get out of Hancock whether the U.K. was going to impose quarantine on arrivals from Portugal.
Truly embarrassing for a government minister.
Err. Umm. Err. Umm. Umm. Err. and so on.
Pretty straight forward question but he said that the decision will be announced tomorrow.
What will change by tomorrow?

Thank goodness for the mute button.
How many more times do we to have the kids going back to school story rammed down our throats on every news channel.

So they've got to go back to school. So things will be different. Get over it and start reporting news not history. :x

What is it with the media harping on about the travel rules being confusing because there are differences between the administrations that make up the UK?

I don't find it confusing. I only live in England. So the only rules I bother with are those that apply to England. The rules in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have no relevance to me day to day. If I decide to go to Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland for a holiday I'll check out their rules. The same as I would if I went on holiday to France, Portugal etc.

I also notice that the confusion is laid at the door of the UK government, but I can't see why. The devolved administrations apparently have the power to plough their own furrow on this and there is nothing Westminster can do about it. And since the three others can't even agree among themselves it's not as if there is anything England could fall into line with to make for clarity. In any case why should we? We are the majority by far so it's up to them to follow the UK line if they wish, not to expect us to be ruled by them.

I find the entire situation incredible Merv.
How any sane person can think that it’s ok to take a foreign holiday at the moment is beyond me.

It is indisputable that international travel spread the virus in the first place.
So what do some want to do?
Continue with unnecessary international travel.
Words are sometimes beyond me.

I said months ago that although the government cannot ban folk from going abroad on holiday, they should have strongly recommended that you don’t and that penalties of quarantine will apply on return.
Then, anyone who decides to go will know full well of the consequences in advance.

I agree Barney. Disappointing as it will be we won't be venturing beyond the UK this year. To be honest other a week we managed last month in Wales I doubt we'll be going more than 20 miles from home before Spring 2021, and even that depends on Covid round 2.

So Extinction Rebellion think that it is right to delay the distribution of newspapers today accusing the papers of failing to report on climate change. But is that not the prerogative of a "free" press. If the press was being told by the Government what to print that too would be wrong.

And all the while Extinction Rebellion protesters are ignoring social distancing and holding illegal gatherings. Surely they must be aware that at this precise moment there is a more pressing emergency that climate change. If Covid is not controlled then climate change will be irrelevant as there will be nobody left of the planet. (Rant over)

Tough one.
While I fully admire the cause, I’m not sure about the tactics that they use.
Political lobbying and getting the majority on your side is the way to get change.

Extinction Rebellion are to climate change what BLM are to racism. Extremists never gain support from the moderate majority.

Corona virus rate is on the up again and steadily climbing, caused mainly by the blasé young. I mentioned this a while back but it was rebuffed by one or two on here.

I don't think that in itself the number of cases is to be unexpected as testing is now more targetted at the "hotspots" so there will be more cases - plus the fact that the more testing that is done, the more cases will be identified.

No doubt the young do seem to be in the majority of those tested, however they will mainly be asymptomatic, and since testing outside hospitals and care homes was virtually non existent during the first wave, it is probably very little different to the spread of the virus at that time.
What is important now is how well we cope with reducing the numbers in the hot spots, if we can do that the flare ups will be controlled; we have to wait and see if that works.

You can test all you like, and they be asymptomatic, at the time, but if people (mainly the young) continue to gather in large groups the virus is going to be picked up somewhere along the line and spread to the more vulnerable.

They probably are the same people but can you realistically expect younger people to stop mixing while simultaneously telling them to go back to work/school/eat out/support business.
There is not a solution to this except another national lockdown which nobody wants.
The virus is with us and we’ve just got to learn to manage it.
Those who follow football will know that they are testing twice a week.
Yesterday, to too Man City players tested positive even though they had no symptoms whatsoever and felt absolutely fine.
There must be literally millions walking around with covid butter no symptoms.

As I’ve said many times, there will need to be a two tier system with the vulnerable and concerned staying home and the rest getting on with life.

This inept PM needs to step down and be replaced with someone who can steer what is for the best part a flock of headless chickens with no direction.

Don’t kill gran or grandad but don’t stop going to the pubs and restaurants is like ordering a pint and asking them not to drink it. :x

We have the October school holidays coming up soon so the government should use this time to send a clear message out that there will be a 2 week lockdown commencing a week prior to the October school break and another two week lockdown over the Christmas period and so on….this way we will keep the virus under control until such time that a vaccine can be found.

Bring back Theresa
