So the latest is that France may veto the extension BoJo is obliged to request. Will Parliament be passing legislation to stop them doing so? It looks like their rejection of the only deal on the table three times has made no deal a dead cert. Unless they get together again to force what they really want but are unwilling to admit. .... cancellation of Article 50.

If Boris HAS to ask for an extension then it will be whilst the UK is still a member of the EU so the UK could veto the request - simples.

According to the latest news, The EU’s chief Brexit co-ordinator has backed warnings from France that a request for another delay to Brexit will be refused. Guy Verhofstadt said it would be 'unacceptable' for Brussels to push back the UK's departure date from the European Union in the current circumstances. “Let it be a 2nd ref., new elections, a revocation of art. 50 or the approval of the deal, but not today’s helpless status quo."

Here is all that is wrong with the EU in one report and two specific points. One. He is a civil servant. He is not elected by us or anyone else in the EU, other than his fellows. Yet here he is laying the law down.

Two. His options for a change in the current circumstances do not include re-negotiating the deal that our elected representatives have rejected three times. It is that deal, take it or leave it, or an election, 2nd referendum, or revocation of Article 50. Again, all things that our actual elected representatives have rejected.

So No Deal it is then.

I presume this is what our EU overlords are pushing out to the Remain campaign and this is the tune they are very happy to dance to. There is no hint of compromise, much as the Labour party talk about it. Let's face it any deal which is put on the table will be voted down and the longer this charade goes on the louder they will be shouting that since 2016 'things have changed' and we should Remain. Give us a General Election and whoever gets in will be able to do as they and their supporters wish - no deal or remain. (Not going to happen because they have a good idea of the outcome and they are busy saving their own necks!!)

He's an MEP.
They just rubber stamp the Commission decisions.
The new President is total evidence of that.

Bigger story is Bercow going rather than face an election.

Yes you're right. He's an MEP rather than a bureaucrat. I realised my mistake too late to edit. As such he's one representative of one country and has no right to pontificate on behalf of 27. In fact since his title appears not to be President or Prime Minister he doesn't even have the right to pontificate on behalf of one!

Yes, he knows he was heading for humiliation. Good riddance. There have been plenty of nominations recently for worst ever Prime Minister. Surely there's only one candidate and clear winner for worst Speaker!

Plenty of gushing support of an 'I'll say nice things about you and you say nice things about me' nature from the opposition benches so I feel sure they will be digging deep. Not so sure about the Tories though for what few of them there were. And those who did stay seemed to exude an air of bored indifference. I can't think why.
