Perhaps that's just as well?
You said it Romig :D It's all getting a bit too serious on here. Come back and save us all

I think that someone spouting about sending people back to their own country is a serious matter. Oh, by the way, my daughter in law is African and lives here with my son and their two children. To think that some people would send HER back to Africa is unthinkable. So, yes, it is a serious subject.
Yes of course it's a serious subject Mo. I didn't really join the forum to talk about serious things. I joined for a little banter and light relief. Perhaps I'll just stay away from the serious topics.

The thing is Emjay, people run out of cruising things to post about and so talk generally which is why the general chat thread is probably the most viewed and posted on and also why topics are posted about anything and everything to keep things going. You obviously prefer light airy banter. I was pointing out that some things such as this topic is one which has personal significance but clearly not for you.

What I should have said is why come on to a serious thread to state that things are getting a bit too serious ??????

And I didn't really join the forum to read people taking the ++++ all the time, no matter what the subject. Funny? No. Tiresome? Oh yes.

No Mo not for me. I of course realise people can post about anything in general chat. I personally don't want to get involved in heavy debates that isn't why I joined the forum. I was responding to Romig really because I know him to be a person with a sense of humour. I would have said the same on any other topic. Unfortunately it happened to be a topic which affected you personally. I'm afraid if I wanted to get involved in heavy debates I think I'd join a debating society . With regard to this forum for me as I said previously it's more a form of escape from the reality of life. I have my own worries. I don't mind a little discussion but it has to be tempered with a little humour surely.

Emjay, I have no problem with what you say. However, I do find it tiresome to see thread after thread being spoilt/hijacked by those who have no interest in - and couldn't care less about - the topic except to post smart ar**e comments. As I said, there have been numerous topics on anything you can think posted for the sake of something to post. At the very least Chesterfield John created a topic which is more than can be said for some.

PS: I have nothing against a bit of humour but that is misplaced on this thread, and on a lot of others too. If someone isn't interested in a thread, then don't bother with it, certainly not pop up on a serious topic just to say that it is getting too serious and other remarks which have no respect for the subject matter. It is unnecessary.

Well Mo not that I'm an expert as this is the only forum I have ever been on but I think it's perhaps just the way of forums. I would have thought that if anyone is posting inappropriately David and the other moderators would step in. I don't think the rest of can really control the way a topic develops. I can see it has upset you as this is a subject dear to your heart. I really didn't mean to offend you or anyone else.

I found this rather charming and amusing:

"Rees-Mogg has courted controversy during previous election campaigns. In 1997 he was Tory candidate for the historically Labour seat of Central Fife. He canvassed a largely working class neighbourhood with his nanny; he came third, receiving 9% of the vote."
