It occurred to me that perhaps a certain person who is not here, and who everyone is wondering where he is, does not fancy the idea of joining a forum where maybe the moderators are maybe people who may not not have been fans of his in the past? In my opinion, care needs to be taken that newcomers and existing members don't feel marginalised by an obvious old network. Just a thought .....

Mo
I would suggest that if any potential poster is worried about being edited and/ or deleted by posting in a particular way , then they should not be posting, as it is obvious they are trying to be deliberately provocative or are just looking to cause friction with their posts
Anyone who sets out to disrupt a forum deserves the red pen,
if the only reason a person does not join a forum, is because they fear being edited or deleted, it speaks volumes about the way that person sets out their stall

If we are talking about TMM then he would be most welcome as far as I, as a Member and indeed as a Moderator, am concerned. Every Member however is required to post within the T&C that they accepted at Registration.

If he is concerned about those then that is just too bad but the revised P&O ones will not be too different to ours I suspect.

Agree gfw

I can think of several posters who have and will continue to fall foul of forums T&C rules, I’m not so sure any of them set out to be deliberately provocative... mischievous maybe, but when all said and done forums such as this need a few who are prepared to push the boundaries. If Mr DK’s none appearance has anything to do with him knowing that his style of posting would be over moderated then I'm sorry to say this forum will be all the poorer for his no participation.

I can’t see how you can have a general chat forum, “where you can talk about anything” which then doesn’t allow for personality differences to come to the fore...I think there has to be a certain amount of discretion used for certain members because most of us on this and the previous forum accepted that these differences were part of that individuals personality.

I don't know individuals and may be totally wrong, but it just occurred to me that someone might not want to join because they might be moderated by those who MAY have given them a hard time in the past. Only the couple of people I'm thinking of will know the reason why they have not joined. I'm afraid that one response has strangely missed the point where as yours, Onelife, is spot on. Couldn't have put it better myself.

Old network :o that would be the majority of the 379 members then as most ( although I stand to be corrected ) were members of the old P&O forum, from the many positive comments that have been posted I don't see anyone suggesting they feel "marginalised" as for newcomers well no doubt they will receive a warm welcome as the name suggests Cruise Community ... The friendly cruise forum

we should anyone worry
if they post within the guidelines and do not deliberatley set out to provoke, upset or belittle, then they should have no problems
perhaps the no shows are aware of that their "style" will cause disruption and have decided to stay away, which can only be a good thing for this forum??

No Sir, the Moderation of any site must be even handed and making exceptions for one person is not an option that would be acceptable to all the others.

One of the remits the moderation team decided on was that everybody was welcome as long as they left any baggage at the door. The moderation, despite what some may think, has been very light, but that has been due to the very low number of reports (after cutting out the childish chaff).

It is a real credit to David that so many people have come across from the P&O forum and it is great that the community has been kept together (whether temporary or permanent). The big shame is that there are many whose contribution was valued and respected that unfortunately we have still not been able to locate.

Darknight is correct that if people are scared to join because of fear of the moderation then I too would be questioning their motives of wanting to join in the first place. Maybe they feel they can not behave as an adult.

As usual the moderation team has been and will continue to be proactive in detecting, monitoring and handling 'trolls', 'spammers' and possible trouble makers.

Where references are being made to MM then I can fully understand why he has not joined this forum.

Not long before the P&O forum "collapsed" there was a discussion about moderation of fora in general and P&O in-particular in which he stated that he would not want to be a member of any forum where the forum moderators, whoever they may be, were allowed to post.

Therefore I respect him for sticking to his principles even though I may not agree with him.

No one person is greater than the whole, I don't think this forum is any the worse, because for what ever reason an individual has not joined.

Anybody is welcome to join, and providing they post within the T/C's of the forum, there should not be a problem.

The person who started and gave us this forum, has appointed a set of moderators, it is up to him to decide if the moderators, are moderating within the T/C's. If other members think they are not, then the they should contact the owner of the site, he may or may not agree.

If a person is not happy to join because of the way it is moderated, or by what happened in the past , that is the individuals choice.

But make no mistake the forum will continue to prosper, with or without any individual poster, previous or present member.
