Woke up to a very snowy garden, 10 miles east of Southampton. Most unexpected. We were on Aurora during the last spell of snow and hoped we'd missed it. Well at least it's Sunday but I have a very poorly husband. John seems to have caught the cold and throat thing that was going round Aurora and we thought we'd missed it. He's certainly suffering - as any man does. Yesterday I kept offering all sorts of medicines but he always wants to show he can recover without any of those things. practically had to force him to keep drinking - water! Greater love has no wife than she goes out in the freezing wind to refill the coal bucket so he can continue sitting in the warm watching the rugby!

We have an inch or three this morning, and still snowing, but thankfully I took the precaution of suggesting to Mobietta that she fetched the logs in yesterday ... only to save her going out in the cold snow this morning

You're all heart Mob. I hope she appreciates you spoiling her.

Meanwhile we've got nothing in the tropical Costa del Workington although they've got snow on the ground just a few miles away.

That woman needs to make an effort to help herself. Disgraceful expecting you to do everything. I just hope she has the decency to come in to cook your dinner.

Another 3 inch top-up of the white stuff overnight ... good job I had the forethought to instruct Mobietta to bring in a double helping of logs.

You wait til she gets out OL ... " Squeak Squeak " or what !!

We got away almost scott free from the original 'beast from the east' but part two got us good and proper down here in North Devon.

Sunday was our Grand Daughters christening in Kent so went up on Friday to make a nice weekend of it.
I woke up Saturday to the devastating news that Gillingham V Blackburn Rovers had been postponed due to the weather, so that put the dampers on that.
The we had to leave immediately after the service to ensure getting back at a reasonable time because Mrs Barney had an appointment at 9.00 am Monday morning.
The traffic was very light and we stuck to the Motorways until we got to Tiverton, then had no choice but to risk the A361 over Exmoor.
Again the traffic was light but it was pretty hairy over the high ground in a 3.2 litre rear wheel drive automatic.

Anyway we got home save and sound about tenish, only to find an answerphone message telling Mrs B that her appointment was cancelled.
We would have stayed over and had a few drinks if we knew that in advance. :(

So, now, the south facing back garden is pretty well clear but it's still sitting heavy out the front

I'm not venturing out today. stay in, in the warm

The 'Beast' is returning again this Easter according to some.
I always think it's such a shame for those who have put huge effort into getting social events organised, only to be ruined by unseasonal weather.

Imagine all those on cruises leaving over the holiday.
Easter ? That should be nice! Maybe out on deck with a glass of bubbly for the sail away?

...... and then it snows

I remember heavy snow at Easter. And that was before they invented climate change.

Lovely sunny day today, nice to get out without being frozen by the wind, mind you, the 'Beast from the east' did take a big bite out of our coast line and where it didn't it stripped away the beaches.
Don't worry, be happy
