Sorry Keefie but does that not go against what you want others to do?

If I am not mistaken doesn't your daughter now live away from home? So she will travel some length of the country, going possibly though several tiers and then be staying with you for several days and then at some point returning.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't...................... On the radio this evening I listened to Andy Burnham bemoaning the fact Manchester was still in Tier 3. Immediately afterwards they interviewed a woman from Herefordshire who was bemoaning the fact they had been placed in Tier 1.
No pleasing some people.

If she were driving, she wouldn’t be driving through any tier higher than 2 but as I have hired a helicopter its not going to be a problem

But unless she has a pilot's license, won't she be subjecting the pilot and co-pilot to the possibility of covid contamination?

I've asked that windows remain open and oxygen masks to be worn in flight.

Matt Hancock apologised for having to put more towns into tier three but the parties can still go on

I can't understand why the figures are so high. Perhaps this will help to explain.

As do I. Maybe the reason the forum was quiet on the issue is you were quicker than most of us to see the news.

However the reason I, for one, was ready to criticise Kay Burley was her sheer hypocrisy. She was one of the media baying for Cumming's head on a plate. And while she held a party for ten he only had his family in the car for his ill advised journey.
But not ready to criticise Tobias Ellwood !

£300 on the spot fines would soon stop them adhering to their interpretation of what social distancing means.

Nor Stephen Kinnock
Tahir Ali
Kevan Jones
Vaughan Gething
Jeremy Corbyn
....................plus many others.
Kay Burley got criticism because of her hypocrisy. I thought Merv had made that clear.
And for the record I don't condone what Tobias Ellwood did either.

We just don't like jumping to hasty conclusions Gill. 8-)

PS I don't think I criticised Kay Burley, and Beth Rigby on here either, however Foxy and Moby didn't jump all over me for that infringement.

My area is currently 2nd highest for infection rates and the next door council area is the highest, and infection rates are still rising sharply.
Gill

Since you are "on the spot" what reason do you attribute to the large increase in infections in your area

This Goverment has had amply opportunities to thwat the spread of this virus but have opted for a balanced approach, an approach which has seen far more deaths than would have been the case had they locked down earlier and not lifted to soon. That being said they are not totally to blame, as much of the blame lies with Chris Whitty (CMO) who has advised but has has failed to criticise the Governments decisions, decisions that his field of expertise would otherwise have advised against.

Its not good enough to say "we advise they make the decisions".....If you know what they are doing is wrong then you either speak out or walk away.

That's not an answer to my question. Why massive spikes in these particular areas?

Isn't hindsight a wonderful thing much practised by Her Majesty's opposition and opponents

You don't know for a fact that that is true

And neither do you know that to be true.

Those are your opinions, which may be correct but we will never know as there is nothing to compare with.

I also don't accept that this Government has done much wrong as no other European country (including our devolved nations) is doing any better - in fact most of them seem to be in a worse state than England.

Keefie, to use a horse racing analogy, you appear to be riding your nag facing backwards.
Now while this might give you a great view of the back of the field, you really have no idea about what's going on up front.
Using only hindsight and supposition you can never be wrong, David points out that there is no way to validate what the outcome would have been if the govt had taken your suggested steps, but equally there is no way to quantify whether in fact faced with the same information any other govt, even one containing you, would have made your favoured choice.

It would be on a par with backsideseat Moderation so couldn't be arsed in all honesty, I will leave such matters to the Twitterettes to deal with albeit Foxy will have to decide for himself as I cannot keep holding his hand through these troubled times ;) .
