I'm just hoping that Sir Hindsight will shortly declare his confidence in Rachel from Accounts and then she'll be toast.
Failing that come November when she has to try to undo the carnage she's wreaked so far while sticking to the mantra of making working people better off I'm expected we pensioners to be shafted again. After all we're not working people so we don't count.

Looks about right for those who took out a state pension before April 2016. I must admit it does seem unfair that there’s a two tier system. Why not have the same across the board.

I dont see how things would improve under any govt., the excheuqor revenue, under any system acceptable to everyone, just does not produce enough money to provide for the current population, which IMO is 10 million more than we can afford, and with the welfare bill set to get even worse, things can only deteriorate.

Ok, why are the BeeB wasting my license fee by flying their North American reporters back to the UK to report on Trumps visit,no doubt they’ll be going back in a couple of days.

That’ll be because auntie wanted O’Donahue to watch AF1 land at Stantead. Not seen him since, although I have tended to watch bbc news on a limited basis lately, get more sense out of GB news and that gets on my Tits at times all talking over each other.

Quote today from Trump
So can somebody answer this question please? If "all" companies want to be in the US then why are US tech companies investing tens of billions in the UK, as that sounds to me as if they do not all want to be thereTrump describes his country's economy as "potentially the strongest it's ever been" and says that all companies want to be there.

I suspect Trump is only looking at the extra tax income from his tariffs, rather than the impact of them on a wide range of import dependant businesses, rising inflation and lower job creation.

How can this be economically viable. A full plane load yes, but just one person each time plus the government officials and not to mention the legal side.

I think it said they were flying Air France, so I assumed it would be a scheduled flight.Stephen wrote: 19 Sep 2025, 07:04How can this be economically viable. A full plane load yes, but just one person each time plus the government officials and not to mention the legal side.

However I get the impression that the judiciary seem to favour a Labour govt. That's two overturned rulings in the last month in favour of the govt.

This scheme will never work. The numbers returned are far too small to put anyone off who is already willing to risk their life in a small boat in the Channel. Love Farage or hate him the only policy that will end this is to return every single one.

Re: Current Affairs 2025
On the basis that the boats have not been crossing the channel for the last week due to the high winds I think I have come up with the perfect solution.Mervyn and Trish wrote: 19 Sep 2025, 11:19Love Farage or hate him the only policy that will end this is to return every single one.
How about putting Farage on a boat permanently moored in the channel and just let him talk away all day long as he comes out with so much hot air that he would keep the boats away, and if he gets tired I am sure we could find a few more MPs to take his place.

One in one out is really going to work…..not. It’s like trying to push the sea back, it’s never going to happen.

Re: Current Affairs 2025
Does anyone understand the logic in Starmer's ID card plan?
One one hand he is saying that it will be mandatory for all adults to have one, and then the next minute says it will only be needed to prove the right to work in the UK.
On the basis that I have no intention of starting work again why will I need one?

The conservative party were a complete and utter shambles and should be thankful to the labour party for giving them the lifeline that is desperately needed in order that they now have time to rebuild their party.

It will do nothing to cut down on the number of illegals entering the country. Does Starmer and his acolytes listen or is he fully aware of the situation and is looking to fudge the issue which will keep the left wing in the party happy whilst looking as though he is doing something to resolve the problem?
Since his ID idea will not come into operation for a few years how many more illegals will have entered the country by then? Talk about fiddling while Rome burns.
At least the Tories had their Rwanda plan and were ready to implement it only to be defeated by lefty lawyers who used every trick in the book to scupper it. What has Starmer got.............one in one out!!!

Re: Current Affairs 2025
How is the introduction of ID cards going to reduce illegal immigration, none of those arriving in small boats have them now, and none will have them after they are introduced. So unless he is adopting Farages policy of abandoning all human rights rules, what's the difference.
