I don't drink tea either Andrea so it will be the champagne one although I'm not sure of Sue's suggestion of a liquid lunch

I've just discovered - and no, I'm not boasting - my semi-formal and formal kit for cruises is now way too big, what a waste.

Had to change stuff around in wardrobes for a couple of days - and the result is really a bit depressing! I liked all the stuff which is now too big, and it's going to be costly to get new especially as I had only worn most of it just once. However, I don't want to put the weight back on.

Em, Well done.

If you have outfits you really like wont it be slightly less expensive to have them altered than replaced.

That's just the problem I am having Em and I know how you feel. I have held on to a size 16 Phase Eight dress from five or six years ago because I had only worn it a couple of times and, even in the sales, it had cost quite a bit. I did have a lot of 16s taken in so still got use out of them over the last couple of years but even those are now getting too loose. Is that a possibility for you ? I paid between £15 to £25 each to have some altered.

On our cruise in June I am going to use the 14s and not worry if they are loose as I don't want to start buying size 12 yet in case I can't maintain the weight I am now. That is the next thing to think about - a maintenance diet once we reach the final weights we want to be.

Anyway, the main thing is congratulations on your weight loss - it is very satisfying but also costly.

Maureen, If you are a floating 12-14 once you are on a maintenance diet, or in reality your future regular eating pattern the size 12 may be harder to maintain.

I always think that as long as clothes fit nicely on the shoulders, loose elsewhere can be flattering.

You must be very pleased with the 'new' you. Well done.

Hi Maureen,

I can alter things easily enough, but I just dislike altering clothes made by someone else. Then there is always the problem that in some alteration situations it's not really viable due to the 'cut'; so to alter something might involve changing an armhole and therefore also lining or facing or sleeve.

I think that first of all I'll work out what we are doing with cruising, and then try and plan it from there. No point in dashing about and replacing the outfits which are now too big - I could easily end up with items I'm not going to need for a few years.

I have had a brilliant week spent with family but a dreadful week as far as dieting is concerned. I am not going anywhere near the scales. Our family leave tomorrow but today is for celebrating as it is our youngest sons 31st birthday.

Tomorrow I will get back on the straight and narrow.

Totally confused this morning about 4 am when we heard a whooshing noise in our bedroom only to find that a roller blind had slipped down off the rail - it had become unstuck from the roller tube. Think I probably yanked it down a bit too hard last night. It was impossible to get back to sleep after that, hence 2 mugs of tea at 4.30 before the brain clicked in and I remembered it was weigh in day and I normally do it before any drinks etc. The scales were, therefore, showing 141 lbs and 6 ounces so I'm hoping that means without the 2 teas I might have been just under 141 lbs.

Sue -Glad to hear you have enjoyed your time with your family this week. Once you get back to normal, I'm sure the lbs will drop off.

It will be interesting to see if Jo or Suespud weigh in today after their 'awayday' - I wonder who led who astray !!

Maureen, Maybe they are wandering around York singing 'show me the way to go home.'

On second thoughts most posters are too young to know what the heck I am on about.

Good afternoon pinchers,

It was the Stratford upon Avon Marathon today which is why l'm a little late weighing in today. Having found a good place to "watch" l spent tne next couple of hours thinking "l should be doing that" but quickly came to my senses and decided to watch my daughter & co rowing up and down the river avon instead.

Well l did jump on the scales this morning as l have done every other morning this week and l am pleased to say l am back to where l was last week....12 stone 2lb which is amazing when you consider what l weighed after spending a few days away with Robbie and his family last weekend.

However I've come to the conclusion that the 7lb weight gain that l put on must have been fluid retention as l certainly haven't dieted in a way that would shed that amount of weight in 6 days...nevertheless l aint giving up the coveted celery stick to no one

Stay strong pinchers and remember..." you must think twice before buying choc ice"

Regards

Keith

Maureen
I'm very late today putting in an appearance mainly due to having problems with my email account so I've spent much of the day trying to sort that out.

Well of course it was Sue who led me astray

I thought we were rather good, no bacon butties on the train but that was really down to TransPennine and Cross Country not serving them as is usual when you book 1st class but at least I got coffee Sue didn't even get that, you really can't get the staff these days !!!

We had a very sensible light lunch ( I won't mention the bottle of Red ) but no 'pud' as we were saving ourselves for afternoon tea at the Cedar Grand and what a 'tea' it was, probably one of the best I've ever had, well what can I say ... all the good intentions went out the window ... we devoured the lot.

Anyway I'm not weighing in until next week by which time I will be back on the straight and narrow and hopefully will have shed anything I might have put on.

Unfortunately Andrea I'm not too young to not know what you are on about

Maybe if it hadn't poured down all day we would have been wandering around singing just that !!!

Had a fabulous day though
