Maureen, perhaps I should say the eccentricities of Cowes IOW....I should know; I was born there. It is a standing joke in the family that true 'caulkheads' are a bit 'off the wall'; but all the more interesting for it we say!
Funny names or not, I am very proud of my Cowes heritage.

Yes, people from Cowes are a funny lot. I am just M A D from Newport.
from one caulkhead to another - have a lovely day. It is gorgeous here today as I am sure it is where you live.

When my son was little, I was telling someone that although I would never have given him the name (too unusual, and maybe a little too much like 'anus' when he started school!), I liked the name Aeneus, young Edward stared very solemnly at me and said "thank God my dad liked Edward".
