I can't get the board to accept an avatar no matter how much I reduce the size of the photo. It just keeps saying that the size must be between 0 and 6 kb - which it is. I've tried using different photos but still no luck.

Photo says 28 x 43 pixels, 3.53K. I've used it as an Avatar on another site with no problem.

Re: Avatar
Doesn't seem to be any size reasons why it shouldn't work.
Stupid question time...are you remembering to hit "submit"?

Yes, I've done that. I've also ticked the box to remove the photo and started again several times. I'll leave it for a while and have another go, see what happens then.

I assume you mean you tick that box only after it has failed?Starbright wrote:Yes, I've done that. I've also ticked the box to remove the photo and started again several times. I'll leave it for a while and have another go, see what happens then.
The box needs to be unticked when you attempt to load a picture.

The avatar max size should be 200pixels x 200 pixels, here is a link to a very easy programme to resize your avatar picture, to correct size.

Re: Avatar
I can appreciate Starbright's problem. I tried Delboy's site because I always have problems with resizing. I did as I was told but the image came out as 16Kb which is way too big. Just for interest sake, and maybe to help others faced with this problem what can you do to reduce the size (Kbs)?
In Starbright's case he/she seems to have fulfilled all the criteria so it's a mystery why it won't accept it. Sorry SB, I'm not much help

Thank you very much Delboy. I tried that and it worked! I've saved that site for future use!! So easy - much better than messing about with photos in Photoshop.

Re: Avatar
It appears the Avatar max size has now been reduced to 120 x 120.
Starbright there on two sites, one for just the avatars.
They also have another site, exactly the same format for resizing photos to any size, useful for downloading photo into the gallery.
I set my last Avatar to 200 x 200 and this site would not accept it as an avatar, said max must be 120 x 120.

Re: Avatar
Doesn't work for me either same problem, whatever I set the size to it won't have it. I can't see where it asks for a size as 120x120 it just gives a number like 200?

Have the requirements for avatars changed recently? I'm sure it used to be around 1050 pixels and under 50Kb, now it says it must be 100 pixels and under 6Kb. I can't get my photos down that small!

Re: Avatar
No - not changed since the forum started. As far as I can recall the Avatar size has never been that large on this forum.
