Personal messages
Q. Does anyone know if a pm that you send stays in your outbox until it is picked up as mine are in there even though it says that its been sent....

Re: Personal messages
I think outbox just refers to the fact that it's a message you have sent.
I guess messages will stay there regardless of whether they have been read or not.

Mine have gone and are showing in Sent messages. Received ones stay in the Inbox, but I have set up a new folder called "read" and moved them from Inbox to there

Re: Personal messages
Jenni is right.
The messages stay in outbox until they shift into "sent" items.

Re: Personal messages
That's definitely how it works Jack.
A few minutes ago I had 2 in my outbox. Now I only have 1, and the recipient of the other one is online so has obviously opened my message.

Re: Personal messages
Jaczs,
To send a message just click on someone's name and there should be an option to "send private message"

Re: Personal messages
I tried to send a pm earlier and it wouldn't send, I assumed you needed to have a certain number of posts for it to be activated.

Re: Personal messages
I don't think it's anything to do with number of posts as I've got less than Jaczs & I've been able to send a PM

How do you get sent PM's to stay in your sent box or where ever they lurk after you have sent them?

All of mine are in the Sent Messages box. Click in the New Messages box next to the cog and it brings up your User Control Panel. There is a tab there for Sent Messages. Is that what you mean?

They will stay in the Outbox and will only move into the Sent Box after the intended victim has opened it.

Re: Personal messages
I agree with MOB. I sent a PM to myself and it appeared in the inbox and sent box immediately. One which I sent to another CCer sat in the outbox for a few days but is now in my sent items, so I think it was picked up when he signed in. Although the person involved is normally a prolific poster, I haven't seen him for a few days so I'm guessing that's the reason.Manoverboard wrote:They will stay in the Outbox and will only move into the Sent Box after the intended victim has opened it.

Re: Personal messages
I always get an e-mail when I have a PM, whether I am on-line or not. Not sure how I managed that - it just happened like magic. Suppose that's Smurfs for you !

It's down to a flea ridden moggie I'de say ... you can turn those e-mails off via the magic cog ... shout if you have any problems

You may also have to clear out any that you are already subscribed to using
Cog(User control panel) -> Overview -> Manage subscriptions.
Not sure exactly what you do after that because I have no subscriptions and so can't check. I think there is a box to select all and a button to remove subscriptions.
