I wonder if the dog's name will be edited out if/when the 1955 film is next shown on the TV.

Anyhow, I don't think Clarkson is at all discriminatory. He seems to insult/offend pretty much everyone regardless. Maybe that's why the show is so popular!

They'll have a job editing it out, as it was the codeword to be radioed back to signify the raid was a success. The crew say it several times as the dam is breached and it's repeated in the Ops Centre.

I used to work with a chap whose second name was 'Coon' and his first name began with 'A'.
He had quite a few stories to tell about that but the funniest was the time he arrived at the airport and the taxi driver, of foreign descent, was standing there holding a sign saying 'A Coon'.

My friends in Canada had a house built on a new estate. The local authorities named the road it was on 'Coons Road'. They wrote back explains that because of their cultural sensitivities this was inappropriate. The council wrote back saying 'OK, you can be on 'Beaufort Hills Drive' which they were very pleased about.

My dad's brother owned a building company and he often had the roads in the estates he built named after members of his family.

Back in the mid-70s, "wendell" was slang for a certain male appendage and my mates thought I was joking when I told them there was a guy on my base whose first name was Wendell...

I see Mrs Clarkson's little boy has been given a final warning and will be sacked if he says anything controversial again. I sometimes wonder if he's just pushing the boundaries that little bit too far.

Where does it all end. Have we now got to rename the animal species 'Raccoon' because someone might get offended.

Go on BBC, put your money where your mouth is and sack him, and then watch your ratings along with your show slowly disappear. I don't suppose Clarkson will lose too much sleep, he's made his pile, and would no doubt get snapped up by another channel here or abroad anyway.

As an aside, I see Mrs Clarkson is filing for divorce.

I can quite see how he said it in error. It's a rhyme I learnt as a child, and we used to use it quite innocently to choose who would be 'it' in playground games. I for one didn't even realise what it meant. It was only as I started to recite the rhyme to myself whilst reading the report on Jeremy Clarkson that I even realised the 'n' word is used, which shocked me as I would never dream of using such a word ... but I had already said it to myself before I realised, and could easily have said it aloud!

I see in today's papers that a DJ has been sacked for playing a song from 1932. 'The sun has got his hat on'.. A very old song and I didn't have a clue that the same word was in there.
Whilst now it is incorrect how sad that some people sit and listen and make a formal complaint.

Taking the story as read, it shows the stupidity of the PC brigade in this country.

I watched the entire series of The Wire, and the N word was used regularly throughout that show, primarily by the African american drug dealing characters however.
Presumably this multi award winning series would also be banned by the BBC.

What annoys me is the PC brigade who take vicarious offence of behalf of those they think (usually wrongly) might be offended by something or other.

I am waiting for somebody to pick me up for occasionally referring to my (mostly) black cat as a coon.

......but I have a piece of paper that says I can: - his pedigree certificate. He is a pedigree Maine Coon.
