Hi everyone,

Being the newbie, who appears to be the one being picked upon, please let me clear up a few points:

1. I do not in the least mind being criticised, ridiculed or even being called names. As a lazy, scrounging Scot I am used to it. Only in the UK for some strange reason.

2. I have looked and participated in many cruise forums as well as writers’ forums. However, I now work from home and there are times in the day when I need the interaction with other mortals, so forums have become an important part of my day.

3. You get a quality of information and advice within forums, which sometimes you have to dig below the surface to find, which you don’t get in other social media. However, this forum does stand out above others by the interaction of the few who post regularly. They have humour, cruise knowledge and on occasion let their learning show through, even though they may try to hide it.

4. Some do at times let their sinister side show through, which for some members, may be off-putting. This is one problem on forums you can never stop, but with someone like David at the helm it can and is controlled.

5. There will probably always be differing views between Forums and social media sites like Facebook. I have a ‘Britannia Project’ site on Facebook but it really is just a contact page. If you look closely at social media sites, they provide instant interaction and often very limited useful information, whereas a good forum can provide in-depth useful and valuable information.

6. I would not be alarmed at what appears to be only a small number of contributors to this forum. As David has pointed out many people view the forum but only a few of them post. They view because as I said above, dig deeply and you will find great information, such as with Dark Knight’s report on his Caribbean cruise. Only 10 posts but hundreds of views. Please everyone keep posting because someone somewhere will benefit.

People will always drift in and out of forums. Work, home and family commitments will always take precedent.

For those who think they or others are being treated unfairly, there is on every entry a ‘Report this Post’ button, so anyone who may feel aggrieved by the post can have David and his administrators the opportunity to look at it.

For those who have read this far without falling asleep, I’m still hear and my very nature prompts me to ask questions, so ask I will and I will try not to annoy too many of you.
Hi Travel writer,

You’ve obviously enjoyed greater success than me as I have reported two members on this forum numerous times and David and his moderators have failed to do sod all about it.

Please don’t tell Darkpanties and Stevie Wonder (minus the sun tan) aka Stephen I’ve said that

Regarding the other matter... If I’m being honest I did think some of your posts came across as if there might be a prize attached to them. That being said I quite enjoy your probing cruise related questions and indeed reading your in-depth knowledge of cruise related topics.

I think you, along with Jonty...and I dare say a few others sitting in the wings have a lot to offer this forum.

Have a good evening and if you are dishing out any prizes would you be so kind as to send one to my good friend DQ aka Jo as she went to the races today and backed two of Onelife’s donkeys

Regards

Keith

As a moderator please rest assured that we received said reports but since we also received reports of abuse from your erstwhile friends we decided it was a draw and did............. nowt.

And just wait till DQ gets back from the races and putting good money on Keefy's nags. I'd make myself scarce if I were you!!

Thanks Keith, I think

However, back to the apparition of DK riding into Southampton on a Unicorn, via the banana shed.

Is this the same DK who if I remember correctly in his report on his Caribbean odyssey on board ‘Thomson Dream’ kept referring to her as ‘the boat’.

Are we now going to be reduced to cruising on submarines, ‘Das Boot’, probably on HM Tridents after Alex Salmond throws them out of Faslane, then I fear that the forum may eventually sink, or maybe only Thomson.

Hi OBF

You're the last person l would have thought would be open to back- handers (not to mention, easily influenced) but as you've shown your true colours how about a "pony" for exclusive use of your red pen for the evening....you can trust me to use it sensitively where the DarkestOne is concerned....honest!!

How kind, Onelife. Suppose the invoice is in the post. Always retain the slogan Keith.

DK the nautical college definition is very clear:

A boat can be carried by a ship but a ship cannot be carried by a boat.

In addition naval personnel refer to Submarines as ‘Boats’ but defer to the merchant marine definitions for a ‘Ship’ being a vessel able to carry a boat.

Another definition is that a ship's captain gets annoyed if you refer to his vessel as a boat, but a boat's captain does not get annoyed if you refer to his vessel as a ship.

Well there was lots of activity on here yesterday

Now about these two 'donkeys' Keefy came up, with no problem I chose 6 others ( probably their brothers ) who would have been more at home on Blackpool beach which just goes to prove I don't know anything at all about the 'gee gee's' so just as well I never go expecting to win :o

I'm pleased to say Mr DQ had a much more successful day than I did so I'll be spending his cash instead

What a great day though, made even better because the sun was shining !!

Of course the older ones among us will say that strictly speaking a ship is a sailing vessel which has three masts each of which is square-rigged otherwise it might be a barque, barquentine, brig, brigantine, schooner, ketch or a host of other things. It might even be a snow which is very similar to a brig but which carries its spanker sail on a smaller mast fixed aft the mizzen.

You'd have to be very old though. :)
