Great game from two good teams.

Hull did brilliantly but Arsenal deservedly edged it I think.

As in most games, a few decisions were wrong, but these seemed to even out.

Think it's a shame that Hull couldn't field their first choice strikers as they had played for different clubs in an earlier round.

That said, fair play to Steve Bruce for mostly fielding the team that got them promoted.

Steve Bruce (started his career at Gillingham btw) was slightly disingenuous with his comments at the end about bad decisions.
They go both ways.
As I saw it Arsenal had three decent penalty shouts, none of which were awarded.

Some of these big matches are usually an anti climax but I thought this was an excellent match from two committed teams and I thoroughly enjoyed it. To be fair to the referee there were one or two decisions which could have gone either way. Some of the penalty shouts I would have given, others not. However it's all well and good giving a decision from the comfort of our armchairs with the hindsight of slow-mo replays. The referee doesn't have that luxury so he didn't do a bad job. There was a possible sending off offence which the Hull player got a yellow card, some diving but it evened itself out in the end.

On the balance of play I would say Arsenal deserved their win but it was a brave display by Hull.

Accept that Bob, but I suppose I meant it was as definite as any of the other iffy decisions. I feel sorry for refs who can only ever see things from one angle, once, in real time. Easy to criticise with the benefit of slow motion replays from half a dozen cameras.

I'm not a great football fan and only watched part of the match, because my best mate is a big Arsenal fan. I thought the best team on the day won. (I have to say that too, for the same reason).

Can't believe you all missed a much bigger game at Wembley today. Conference play off final which saw the mighty Cambridge return to the league after a 9 year absence

Congratulations to Cambridge on their return to the football league. It doesn't seem so long ago since we played you in the play-offs to go into the Premier League. How fortunes change as you seemed to go into freefall after that. Condolences to Gateshead.

Pity the play-offs are not broadcast on 'proper' TV. I don't have Sky, and will never have it but unfortunately they have mopped up the majority of the big sporting events.

The conference final was on BT sport, which you get free if you have BT internet. Also you get a few premiership games as well and the Champions league soon. That won't bother you foxes though for a few years. Yes I remember that play off game against Leicester, do't know the final score though, I left after the fourth goal went in. Think we sold you Steve Claridge after that. We also had Dion Dublin in our ranks

As one of the saddos who stays awake on a Saturday evening for The Football League Show I think it's a pity we don't see more games televised from the lower leagues. Having watched some of the Premier League bore draws you get some really exciting matches further down the divisions - committed football, a few mistakes, some fabulous goals and in many respects a more exciting experience. If my wife came in at half time with a pie and a cup of Bovril in a polythene cup I'd have near enough the real thing!!!

You are right Phil. In those days you had a good, young team who had had two successive promotions and were on the verge of going into the Prem. After a 1-1 draw at your place it was all to play for at the old Filbert Street. If it's not too painful you can watch the high low lights here. Notice the fences around the ground and what a good support you had that night. Great atmosphere.
