Can't say l was overly impressed with the way Brazil played last night....helped by a poor refereeing decision.

Perhaps its wishful thinking but l think England will do a lot better than most of the pundits are predicting.

I wasn't hugely impressed with Brazil either.

What worries me however (even at this early stage) is the discrepancies in the refereeing. Mexico vs Cameroon had a terrible set of officials leading to some dreadful decisions and leniency regarding yellow cards. In the current Spain/Holland game we have seen a player booked for nothing in comparison!
On the plus side, I love the white line that the refs make to mark out the position of the wall.

Early days Romig but you would have though some of world's best referee's should be able to distinguish a foul from a dive as was the case with the penalty awarded to Brazil.

Great match tonight.....Netherlands looks a great bet at 20/1 to win the final on tonights performance.

Just watched some of the goals scored in last nights Holland v Spain match and Ajaen Robbens goal must sit right up there with the best ever scored in a world cup.

Thanks DTM - a lot of the series I watch are finishing this month too

i have a couple of trips planned - off to see my son in Luxembourg in a couple of weeks and cruise around Britain in July so will escape from the tosh on the tv

Watched the match in Wetherspoons Birmingham after a couple of cocktails in the Slug and Lettuce. There was a good atmosphere in both places. Great goal by Robben but when you look how much ground he had to make up there was no way he should have scored that goal. Brilliant running and a great finish at the end.

Back home now and looking forward to the match tonight. Iam rather hoping Hodgson plays some of the young lads instead of the old guard.

Personally sitting on the fence about the World Cup after the last two very disappointing performances by the England teams that were far too involved with things other than being a TEAM! However, this morning our shop was back to good 'old fashioned' Saturday mornings, French Sticks or as we call them here Flutes sold like hot cakes, the oven worked overtime, all newspapers sold out and happy smiling people talking about the match. This afternoon a quick drive locally to drop off our daughter at a world cup party, on the way back the roads were quiet and loads of cars were sporting flags so I guess, like it or not, the World Cup has definitely arrived. Let us hope that the team performance tonight keeps the spirit going.

Raheem Sterling playing - good news. Hopefully the likes of Lallana and Ross Barkley play a part later in the game.

Great upset with Costa Rica beating Uruguay. We didn't see that coming did we? On their second half performance they deserved their win.
