Honours List

Unread post by johnds »

Once more I fail to understand the honours list which seems to always favour the "rich and famous" over genuine endeavour

Daniel Day Lewis a half Irish alleged film star who no doubt earns millions from his job is awarded a knighthood as is Nicholas Soames whose claim to fame is having been a well paid MP for 30 years which must have given him plenty of opportunity to milk the system.

Contrast that with the incredibly brave teenager Stephen Sutton who prior to his early death raised 4.8 MILLION pounds for the Teenage Cancer trust. Stephen was posthumously awarded the MBE.

Which of these did deserve the knighthood ?

Hi Johnds

Whether deserved or not the recipients of these awards do seem to represent a good cross section of different professions.

Thankfully Stephen's " tie me up and do it again" leather service has been overlooked again this year..... .

Keith - Did you receive an honour for helping to tackle the serious obesity crisis in this country with your Pinch an Inch Diet?

Keefy
is it true Greenpeace have banned you from swimming in the sea, due to the number of call outs they get, to throw you back in?

Now back on track, Cronyism is rife, as is elitism etc, so why does it come as a shock, that the over privileged few ,wot pick who receives the honours, pick their mates and their benefactors?

it is all a sham really and just proves that they are no more than a pat on the back for the public school elite

And now they're dishing out gongs for all and sundry of the 'celeb' world. Bleedin real, Angelina Jolie Up gets a gong ship and she's not even British. Don't worry about the poor s*d down the road in THIS country who's been out in all weather for the past thirty years raising money for charity Ma'am, let's keep the pretty people with perfect white teeth abroad happy .

What a bl**dy farce.
