Whilst this is a genuine security issue the cynic in me says that it is a ploy by Norton to sell their product as, from what I have read, security patches have been produced to block this loophole.

Firstly a lot will depend on what apps you have/use on your phone. The danger ones are banking and anything to do with credit cards. If you don't use these then you are a much lower risk - although anything with passwords could be vulnerable. Same old story I'm afraid - change your passwords regularly.

I am not sure if there is a way to know if your phone has had the security patch applied other than asking your phone supplier.

Installed it on my tablet and it says no suspect apps found, but can I believe it?

I use Malwarebytes on my Tablet. Free and very good.

My understanding is that you are only at risk if you obtain apps through other than Google Play.

As always, never open any attachment from unknown senders

This week I have had three phone calls warning me my Windows Computer has a serious fault

Seems highly unlikely, you old cynic , given that I already own a 3 user Norton product so have no need to buy anything.

My Norton product is also a 3 user one, BUT it only applies to windows os, so won't load on my android tablet. I am due to upgrade in September but buying from Norton would cost double over Amazon.
Can any wise owls on here help me load from a DVD format onto my laptop and phone, which I assume is possible.

Why buy when there are plenty of free apps out there? Norton is notoriously difficult to completely uninstall and takes up a lot of system resources. I use AVG on my Androids

I use avast mobile security on mine - it scans anything I download Never had a problem.
