Re: Football 2014/15
Things can only get better Romig and Bournemouth must be one of the favourites to make the top 6. They looked good last year so it looks like they are carrying on where they left off.
It sounds like your lads were still on their holidays.

Udd's Manager, Mark Robbins, has jumped ship following that performance ...

One word from Romig and that's it! You'd think Wina would keep her husband under control!

Robins going isn't the shock that it would seem so early in the season. He's been judged on the last few months of last season too, and there has been no apparent improvement. Glad that the new man should have time to bring one or two new faces. Bookies favourite seems to be Steve Thompson - though I would personally like to see Brian McDermott come in.

Well before the start I gave him until the end of October to show an improvement, after yesterdays result I revised this to early September.Manoverboard wrote:Udd's Manager, Mark Robbins, has jumped ship following that performance ...![]()

No doubt the chairman, Dean Hoyle, is a ruthless operator, that's the 4th manager he has sacked since February 2012.

The next one to go surely has to be Birmingham's Lee Clarke, can you imagine being one of his players ... zero for motivation and ten out of ten for inducing depression

Surely the best time to sack would have been the end of last season.towny44 wrote:Well before the start I gave him until the end of October to show an improvement, after yesterdays result I revised this to early September.Manoverboard wrote:Udd's Manager, Mark Robbins, has jumped ship following that performance ...![]()

Re: Football 2014/15
Possibly true QB, but I suspect Hoyle wanted to see how the club progressed through the closed season. It's clear that he had no confidence (esp after yesterday's performance) that the club was moving sufficiently in the right direction.Quizzical Bob wrote:Surely the best time to sack would have been the end of last season.towny44 wrote:Well before the start I gave him until the end of October to show an improvement, after yesterdays result I revised this to early September.Manoverboard wrote:Udd's Manager, Mark Robbins, has jumped ship following that performance ...![]()

Although the official line is that Robins left the club through "mutual consent", it's obvious from his comments in the past that he wasn't going to walk from his position. I'm pretty sure that he left on those terms to avoid a sacking on his cv.

Situation normal for the Gills
Two up and cruising, keeper goes off injured, main striker goes off injured, concede four, all from set pieces.

Re: Football 2014/15
Don't want to be doom & gloom but I can see Bournemouth going the same way as Portsmouth eventually.
£15miilion debt and spending much more every week than the take in.
Sugar Daddy bankrolling for now but what will happen when the money runs out?
As a supporter of a club that's been in admin. and hours from winding up, I'd much rather have a susutainable level of football a league down without the worry.
Bournemouth are a similar size club to Gillingham but their wage bill is about 5 times.
It's got to end in tears eventually. They've been in admin themselves more than once, but have obviously learned nothing.

But you've just had a few million £ windfall from Adam Lallana.barney wrote:Don't want to be doom & gloom but I can see Bournemouth going the same way as Portsmouth eventually.

Us 'minnions' had an unexpected away win in the League cup last night. 1-2
Seven of the starting eleven were under 21 so augers well for the future.
Unfortunately picked up another couple of injuries.
Delicate little things aren't they.
Whatever happened to the likes of Norman Hunter? Players like that were never injured.

We kick off the season against Everton on Saturday and we already have three players injured. Rumours have it they dropped their wallets on their foot.

Listened in wonderment last night as Hudds Town came back from 2-0, and then 3-1 down with 6 minutes left, to beat Chesterfield 5-3 in extra time. Maybe the departed manager was the millstone round their necks after all.

Re: Football 2014/15
You've got a very good striker there in Nahki Wells
Saw him a few times with Bradford.
Don't think he'll be hanging around the Terriers very long. On to bigger and better.
Hopefully you'll make a few bob on the deal.

Well, we won convincingly-ish 1:0 with 9 changes from Saturday's game against the muscle men of Stevenage thanks to a tap in by OBF's ex flying winger Lloyd Dyer.
When do they make the draw for the next round ?

Absolutely spot on and their weekly pay packet was a embarrassing pittance to the current fairiesbarney wrote:Us 'minnions' had an unexpected away win in the League cup last night. 1-2
