whooo hooo Derek pee'd

Unread post by Delboy »

whooo hooo Derek pee'd!!

Have to admit not my original idea of a thread, but thanks to the person who originally gave me the idea, although I did deliberate for a while before posting.

As some of you may be aware yesterday I went into hospital to have an operation to remove my gall bladder, micro surgery, in and out in a day.

Arrived at hospital 7/30am, on operating table by 8/30am, first on list. Doctor said everything went well no problem, but also said gall bladder in a bad way, highly inflamed, full of slush, and obviously had not been working properly for a long while. ( may be something to do with the excruciating chest pains I have been suffering from time to time over the past 18 months)

Now have a little jar containing 3 gall stones as a souvenir, they are fairly large and peculiar looking. Also have a pair of very catching white knee length stockings, which I have to wear for a week,(In case of Thrombosis), they will be walking on there own, before the weeks out.

Could have sent you a selfie photo of me in the recovery room ( making use of hospitals Wi Fi), but that would be far too scary, even for the forum) :o

So far so good, wife and daughter (taxi driver for the day), told I would be ready to leave at 1/30pm, duly arrived on time, only to be told there would be a delay as they could not discharge me, I had not yet peed. No way were they going to discharge me before I had peed, so two hours later, still waiting, yes you've guessed still no p........... .

Even threatened to sent me home with a catheter fitted ( private hospital, NHS paying, but not for overnight stay) the thought of a catheter changed the colour of my face from a jaundiced yellow to a bright white at the thought. They even did an ultra scan of belly to see how much fluid in the bladder. :o

However help was now at hand, in the way of my doctor, who in passing was very surprised to see me still there, she explained to nurse said not so important for men to pee as with women, unless it's to do with having a hernia OP, so at last discharged.

Its very sore at the moment specially when moving and I now look like an old man when walking, but hopefully this will wear off over the coming days. The great news though, is since being home I am now peeing for England, bit late for the Commonwealth games though. :D

Catch you later as another P.. Is calling.

PS did have another good piece of news yesterday, our youngest grandson who has just turned 15, was put up by his school to take his Maths GCE a year earlier than needed.
He got his result yesterday, an A. Maths, he inherited that from his mother, who inherited it from her dad, me.

Funny you should say that about tea, unfortunately no chips but cod in parsley, with a few boiled new potatoes, oh and a few peas I am informed.

I had the tap and everything running yesterday, to no avail :D

Glad to hear that it's all clear at last Delboy

Mobietta ' still ' has her little pile of stones ;) and she tells me that you have to pee cos the anaesthetic can cause your bladder to stop working

That's wonderful news Delboy. Amazing that the fact somebody had a pee can brighten the day. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I had to go and see the urologist the other week and it was quite amusing sitting in the waiting room with half a dozen men busily drinking jugs of water and trying to judge when they had drunk enough for them to fill the cup. Some had been there ages and were still there when I came out. It's not exactly something you can do on command, is it although I suppose once they started it would be difficult to stop. Which is back to where you came in!!!

I don't know about 'Post of the Week' Jo, it deserves to be 'Achievement of the Week', at least for Derek.

Glad all went well Derek. OBF's posting reminded me that when I was pregnant with our first daughter I had to have a spell in hospital and had to have a scan. So the sister on the ward insisted I drink for England before the scan. All well and good but when I got down to the Scan Dept. there was a delay, so having drunk an entire water tank I had to wait, and wait..... Eventually I said to the nurse that either I had to go to the loo or there would be a very large puddle on the floor! So she said the immortal words, "Well can you just do a bit, not all of it!" Well I did my best and the scan was fine so I assume the 'bit' I did wasn't too much!

Morning everybody, thank you for your comments, have given me a laugh.

Ray, yes it was the Oaks, what a place. Mind you I could not fault the Colchester General when first rushed in with excruciating chest pains 18 months ago. They gave me every test going for cardiac and gastric, just not an Ultra Scan, which eventually identified the problem.

It was a visiting Locom Doctor at our Doctors surgery who sent me for the Ultra Scan in June.

Good job they did not fit a catheter, I would have been forever having to empty it. 48 hours ago I could not fill a thimble, now I could fill a bath, well that's what it feels like  :D
