We beat dirty Leeds 4:1 so that should please Romig as well as moi ...

ps ... 2 of their players sent off this time, one for violent conduct in the 90+2nd minute

They were all very lethargic..

Still fuming after yesterday. We had a defender sent off just before half-time (I'll reserve judgement on that as I haven't seen it properly) but came out very positively in the second half, despite the shortage. We took the lead deservedly and looked like holding on. Then, with a couple of minutes to go, we have the most blatant penalty decision denied, and Charlton go up the other end, to equalise in injury time!

They say that these things even themselves out over a season, but I hope that next time we get some good fortune, it gives us the 2 points that we were robbed of yesterday!

Just seen the incidents on FL Show. The sending-off could be described as a touch harsh, as it could well be argued that another defender was covering. Having said that, I haven't many complaints - the defender got turned by the striker, and tugged at his arm as he ran towards goal.

The non-penalty however, just looks worse every time you see it. How Ben Haim got away with the most blatant two handed shove on Vaughan astounds me.

I see that FC Halifax have also started extremely well with maximum points... up the Shaymen!

QB, I accept the rationale about the sending-off and the covering defender. The penalty decision still remains a travesty. Even IF Vaughan went down easily (as most players do these days, to the discredit of the game), there was still a blatant two-handed shove. There's no way that could be considered a shoulder-charge or any other fair challenge (unless the ref thought he was a rugby referee). Anywhere else on the pitch, he would IMO have awarded a free-kick - which is a nonsense.

Even shoulder charges are no longer allowed. Such incidents as these are down to the 'opinion of the referee' and I don't believe that many would have given it. Vaughan wasn't bodily moved by the touch so to call it a 'push' would be a bit extreme. Enough for a probable goal? Sometimes we have to remember that the referee is neutral and doesn't actually have it in for you.

QB, even though I am also a Town fan IMO it was certainly a foul on Vaughn and therefore a nailed on penalty, the sending off was more debatable but it was still a 50/50 decision which when you take both incidents into account makes it a bad day for us.

As a referee myself I feel a responsibility to support my colleagues but if you're interesting in getting involved in the game then why not give it a go yourself?

I have to concur, even though I don't profess to have any refereeing experience, and at 70 I think I'm a bit too old to learn.

We had a full house and it was a valiant preformance against a full strength Newcastle team.

Yet again another own goal but came away without complaint.
I had the feeling that Newcastle could up the anti anytime they felt like it.

On the positive side, our centre back John Egan is now Newcastles top scorer so must be worth at least £10 million.

Losing to Donny wasn't a decent result for us on Tuesday evening but Troy Deeney penning a new 4 year contract today certainly is
